There is definitely a DRRI bias on this Fender site for whatever reason. I personally prefer the BDRI for it's sound. I also think the issue of unreliability is overblown.

Personally i have never played a "bad" hot rod series amp. do i think that come of them sound like crap yes i hate to pro jr overdrive. i do like the blues deluxe but the deluxe reverb will always win over the hot rod series i have found its much more controlable and has better tones.

It's all in the ears. I've never played or owned a good HRD series amp. There are so many better choices in ampland Fender and otherwise. I chose otherwise and never looked back even once. I still have my 74 Champ, sold my 76 Twin a few months ago. I think I'll build my own next Fender amp. Maybe this winter when things slow down I'll build a 5e3 Tweed Deluxe. At least if it goes up in smoke, I'll have no one to blame but myself. There's a lot of clones out there.

Still, the Deluxe Reverb is a classic and beats any HRD series amp. The loop in my HRDlx wasn't that clean to begin with and with my Egnater, I rarely use a pedal. The Egnater has the sound I've always had in my head but only came close to in all these years right out of the box. It wasn't a 6V6 or EL84 tone, it was something in between. It's a great feeling to find your own signature tone. The HRDlx only frustrated me, the Egnater makes me want to play more.
