There are only two types of guitarists......

Those who own Deluxe Reverbs, and those who will.

It's just a matter of time. And wisdom.

WAIT A MINUTE!!!, you forgot 2 groups, those that did, and the group that did and wish they still did, I'm in that group. Mine was a '66.

I had two throughout my 40+ years of playing.

I'd like to add myself to the group of those who can't believe they waited that long to get one!

Almost did, found a used reissue before I got the Super Champ. But it was sold before I got there, oh-well, plenty more of them out there. Fate led me to this amp, no regrets.

No sweat, Johnny......Super Champs are pretty tasty too.

If I found one languishing for five bills or so I'd prolly pull the trigger too.

And the DRRI is one of the cleanest amps you'll find, until you turn the volume up, then it starts to break up. A nice guitar into a DRRI turned up to about 4 or 5, with a good od pedal if you wish, and you've got serious tone. It's then left up to the player to do something with it! :D

the fellas are speak'n the truth !

best little blues amp I've owned, my victoria 2012 (tweed deluxe clone) came close just no clean headroom at all.

Hi drri for me played mine last night with my 89 strat turned her up to nine. the sound fricket me out. i just used the volume on my strat for volume control. hope this does not hurt my amp. what do you think out there.Cheers from aus. ps. i just love the tone of my 65 deluxe reverb re issue. :D

I just bought an HRD III instead of a DRRI for several reasons:

1. I use and like a lot of pedals including modulation, delay, etc. DRRI has no effects loop. HRD wins.

2. I'm not much of a fan of reverb or trem for that matter so those features of the DRRI are wasted on me.

I believe if using the amp as a base for pedals the HRD is likely the better choice. I wouldn't mind owning a DRRI at some point but for where I am now the HRD is tops.

I have a Blues Deluxe its a 93 when they first came out.. It has a lot of head room not sure about the 65.. My amp sounds awesome once I get past 2.5 on my volume but it gets loud quick! I usually have to mic it and on stage can't turn it up past 3 bc it blows everybody off the stage..

Can you not just turn down the volume on the guitar??

There is definitely a DRRI bias on this Fender site for whatever reason. I personally prefer the BDRI for it's sound. I also think the issue of unreliability is overblown.

Personally i have never played a "bad" hot rod series amp. do i think that come of them sound like crap yes i hate to pro jr overdrive. i do like the blues deluxe but the deluxe reverb will always win over the hot rod series i have found its much more controlable and has better tones.
