I am in the market for a twin, I always wanted a twin, but recently noticed they are made in Mexico and still a heft sum... are they just as good as the older usa models?

Or should I look around for a used one?

thanks

I have a Twin that's a little over a year old and that was made in Corona, CA. I checked a Twin at my local Sam Ash store and it was made in Corona. My DRRI which I purchased a couple of months ago was also made in Corona. Hope that helps.

Assembled in Corona or assembled in Ensenada -- I doubt that any distinction would be discernible.

Guys, please confirm, perhaps I am incorrect, but I am almost certain the guy at Guitar center said "they are all made in Mexio Now"

Hoping he is wrong, not that I have anything against the MIM products, but I do have an issue with the price.

thanks again

If price is a consideration, take a look at the secondary market. I've seen clean examples on Ebay and C/L going for less than $700 in many cases.

My twin was made in USA, mind you its also nine years old and never had a tube change (I should really get round to that....)

If you can find a used Silverface, you'd be better off. I can't see paying more for a reissue than a Silverface.

Onething to consider is the reissues are not as much like a vintage blackface as people think. I'm not saying their bad just for my money I would rather have a Silverface.

I've owned and played Twin Reverbs for the last four decades. All of them at one time or another -- blackface AB763's, silverface AC568's and AA1069's, a silverface AB1270, a '73, an ultra-linear '78. and a re-issue from '94 (the latter two amps I still have).

The re-issue Fender sounds much closer to the original AB763 than any of the aforementioned silverfaces. All it really needs is a speaker more befitting its capabilities and a nice set of NOS glass......both, easily remedied issues.

My '65 Twin Reissue arrived via UPS approximately 30 minutes ago, and it says made in Corona, CA on the back. That's about as fresh as you're gonna get. I think the guy at GC is probably a Marshall fan.

I love it!!! It's always been the Holy Grail of tone for me. I really haven't taken the time to dial it in just yet, but I can at least hear the tone that I love in it.

I fear no Marshall. Nor any two Marshalls!

I guess to each his own.

If you don't like an amp don't buy it. If you buy an amp and find you don't like, sell it.

I won't bother you with qualifying all my experience with Fender amps.

I'm not knocking the reissues their fine amps for today's market.

Still the SF's are great amps and I wouldn't say they sound bad at all. In fact I think they sound better than an original BF for more modern playing styles. AND they ARE way better built than the reissues, and that is a fact.

Besides in a Bar with 200-300 drunks who can tell what your playing, might as well be a $100 Squire Strat and Crate full of $hit for a amp.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought that the only Fender tube amps manufactured in Mexico were the Hot Rod & Blues, Jr, Deluxe & Deville...

Everything from there up is USA to the best of my knowledge. Again, I could be wrong.
