Hi,

I just bought my ss 2 days ago and I've come to notice a loud pop coming from the speaker each time I switch from vintage channel to burn channel. I've checked if it was only when I used the footswitch but it does the same thing when I use the button on the amp's front pannel.

Has anyone encountered the same problem? Do you think that's normal?

Nomaly there is a mute circuit (Q1 if I'm not wrong) avoiding pops. You amp needs to be repaired, contact your dealer for repairing or an exchange.

I don't know about the SS 22, but I have an original SS and the channel switching is totally silent. There should not be any popping.

Insist on an exchange or a refund -- nobody should be forced to deal with an issue like this on a brand-new amp.

Not sure this will help you.

I had the same issue with a Yamaha 100T, I replaced the preamp tube for the drive channel and the pop went away.

I think everyone is saying take it back, which I would also do. If its' under warranty, it's their problem not yours.

I would replace the amp back in the trunk of my car and make them exchange it.

Hi, I hope this helps you. I got my Supersonic 60 watt head & 4x12 cab about a month ago. At first whenever I switched into & out of standby & when I pressed any of the three footswitches I had some pops. I started to warm up the amp for 10 minutes or more before playing & the first turn on pop went away. Now after having played this amp quite a bit i'm happy to say I very rarely get any pops anymore. I don't know if this makes sense but a tech at Eurotubes explained the expansion & contraction inside new tubes takes a little while to stabilize & then should clear up. At least for me it worled. Good luck & keep us posted please. Rock on!!

Thanks! This certainly helps me. I took the amp to the store where I bought it today and the salesman told me this is a common sound on this type of amp. The one I had before was a solidstate Marshall and the switching never made any sound. He basically explained me about the same thing you wrote. So after warming up the amp and playing it for a little while, the pops were much les audible. Other than that, this amp rocks! I'm looking foward my first rehearsal with my band tomorrow. This is gonna be the real testdrive.

I guess we'll have to wait and see, but as a general rule I never believe a salesman. Especially one selling me anything.

Awesome! Glad it helped. These are the best amps hands down! I sold my Marshall TSL100 to get this & have no regrets. Rock on!

Apparently, these amps have a switching problem inherent to the design. I came up with one solution, the details are on my blog...http://brownoscillator.com/wordpress/?p=8

May be you can propose that to 7ender as SS 22 II 8)

Hey brownamp,
Thanks for this! Although I don't have a issue (so far?) with switching channels....
Say, what about the hiss level of your SS22? And the hum that comes from turning up the reverb above 4?
Mine is ok for playing above 2 on the clean channel, but too loud to use it in my bedroom. Since you seem konwledgable about the inside of these amps: Any ideas how to reduce the hiss? For now, I just put my volumepedal into the loop, turned up the fender and turned down the pedalvolume. Works, but is probably not an ideal solution.
