Hey, I'm considering buying a hot rod deluxe, or a deluxe blues reissue. I've got some almost new quality tubes in my old amp, which I want to sell, and I'm considering putting them in the fender if I buy one. The tubes are Svetlana winged c 6L6GCs, and Ruby Tubes 12AX7AC7 HGs. If you are not familiar with the ruby tubes, the HG stands for high gain. Before I decide whether or not to put these in the fender, I was wondering what they would do to the sound. The svetlana are matched from the tube depot to have a fairly low breakup. Combined with the high gain preamps, would this ruin the clean headroom? If so, would you suggest putting a lower gain (5751 maybe) preamp tube in one slot? Also, would these tubes do anything good for the distortion?

Thanks guys!

I know Winged -C-, good choice such as JJs, no issue with headroom. I don't know for ruby tubes.

The 6L6GCs have a matched plate current of 17. What would I need to bias the amp to to match these tubes? I couldn't just plug them in could I? Also, is this a pretty low plate voltage for these tubes? I ask because they gave me less headroom in my other amp, and that's definitely not what I want for the HRD or blues deluxe.

Thanks
