OK, everything seemed to check out when I traded for the amp, now the A Channel Clean has very low output but the Crunch is fine. Any ideas? I am running it into a 16 ohm 210 cab. The B Channel Clean and Crunch are both fine.

Try switching out some preamp tubes.

No need, just have to watch were the volume is set, duh! I may keep this head after playing it through the 210 cab project that I resurrected and got moving again.

OK, it seems there is a tube issue. After being on for a couple hours the bass got really boomy on mid and neck single coils of a Lone Star Strat. The humbucker was fine??? :? So I am going to retube the beast. My question is should I stick with a complete retube kit from EuroTubes, "Marshall DSL50 - Full standatrd retube kit": ECC83S Standard [3] --ECC83S Balanced [1] --E34L Matched Pair [1], or try something different like "Electro-Harmonix 6CA7 EH" from the tube depot. A quote from the site "The 6CA7EH is built to withstand today's high-gain amps while still retaining the detailed tone and component integrity of the original. A direct replacement, with military reliability, for any EL34. " Anybody tried this. I have a Fender BDRI that I really like and do not want to replicate a sound as I can just stay with the BDRI, but I do want the Marshall to be a little cleaner! All experiences, issues and ideas are welcomed.

Thank You
Brian

Edit:
The Tube Depot also has the Electro-Harmonix EL34 EH, price is comparable to EuroTubes for a full set of tubes. Preferences?? :?:

To Arjay and other knowledgeable persons on this board, it is recommended that I install the following:

"V1-Tung-Sol, high gain, low noise. ($4 dollars extra)
V2-Mullard RI, high gain
V3-EH standard tube
V4-EH high gain

EH 6CA7 Power Tubes get my approval."

Any comments or suggestions?

Thank You
Brian :?

I know *dick* about Marshalls but there's nothing wrong with that tube selection IMO.

Best of luck, HTH

Arjay
