I just traded a 2003 BJr. towards a new Fender Hot Rod Deluxe III amp. My first impressions are very favorable. Nice, loud, great clean channel - especially great platform for my (many) stomp boxes. I never owned an HRD before but I so far love the tones I'm getting out of this amp. Sounds big and full on the clean channel. The drive channel sounds good enough to me to forget adding overdrive pedals to it.

The included Celestion speaker sounds great to my ears and does not require replacing in my opinion.

I'd like to here from anyone else here that has picked up a version III Hot Rod series amp.

I just played through a new Blues jr. III at a local G/C and it also sounded Good.

A more lively sond than I remember from any earlier Blues jr's

Haven't played through one yet. Not on the market for an amp at the moment. But the HR III series does seem interesting & worth looking at. Seems better IMO (from what I've seen & heard on demos) than the previous models in the HR series.

Love my Peavey Classic 50. But, if I were on the market for an amp today, I do think that one of the new Hot Rod amps would be worth plugging into while shopping for a new amp.

Yes! I have the BJr (II), the HRDlx (I), and the HRDvl 4x10 (II), and I think the the HRDvl 4x10 is the best of the bunch. :D

Wouldnt doubt it,but the 59 bassman is pure tonal heaven, much better sounding than the blues deluxe and hotrod deluxe that I used to own or the blues jr that stays in my closet.JMO.
