Hello,

Just ordered a Texas Special equiped strat along with the new Line6 HD300 Multi effects on sweetwater.

Now I must choose a good tube amplifier to go along with the HD300 for bedroom/pratice nice tones.

I play mostly blues, 60/70s rock, as hendrix, pink floyd etc.

I´ve overlooked some as the Fender VibroChamp XD, Vox AC4TV and others. Please recommend some to me that should be nice matched with the Line6 HD 300.

Thanks!

Princeton Reverb re-issue.

No doubt about it.

You will stretch your $350 if you buy used. Peavey Classic 30 or Fender Blues Jr. come to mind. The HD300 is an amp modeller, so it would be kind of overkill to get a modelling amp like the VibroChamp XD. It might sound like poo on some amp and HD300 settings, but then again maybe not others.

You could get the most out of the HD300 if you use a nice clean sounding solid state amp though. I'm all for tube, but not in the case when used with amp modeller effects.

Amp modellers like to be run into clean amps. That's the point of the modeller, right? The same sound coming into the amp should come out of the amp. If you run a modeller into a particular tube amp that has a very unique tonal character (a cranked Vox AC30 for example) then all of the models you select on your HD300 really won't sound like the amps they are trying to model. But for low volume home use you probably don't need to worry about that. I'm sticking with my suggestion of a used Peavey Classic 30 or Fender Blues Jr. if you absolutely have to have a tube amp.

Thanks metro, I was kinda looking forward a Pro Junior at first. But I think that might be too loud for home use. So I thought about the Vibro Champ XD and only use it on voice 1 and the HD300 over the top. What do you think ?

How could I forget the Pro Jr? That would work too. It sounds decent at lower levels and would be OK for home use I think.

Voice 1 on the VCXD according to the manual is "A vintage tone based on early Fender® Tweed Champ® amps." I could only guess on how that setting would sound with the various amp model settings you select on the HD300. Would they be good or bad? I don't know. Maybe bring your HD300 to a guitar shop and try it out. I bet you'll find a good sound somwhere in there!

The thing is im buying online and sending to my sisters in NY. So I have no way to test it on store. I must relay on your opinions.
I´ll keep the Pro Jr in mind...

Or maybe some Powered JBL Monitors will suit me better than a Fender Pro Junior ?

You'd be better off with a full-range keyboard amp. Something with a flat response. I don't care for the quality, but at your price point, check out Behringer amps.

does any one know if I can use the Line 6 HD 300 with my Fender Super Reverb reissue? I would like to by an effect pedal and the HD seems to be nice. If anyone has and other ideas I would be happy to hear your input. This will be my first Effects and wanted to get something good that will last.
Thanks for your help
Later

It works very well through my ProJr. Of couse if you set a metal preamp to the amp it wont sound very well, but man, throw the Fender preamps on the ProJr, its like it has a whole new soul to it. The effects are as well as the M9 series. Pretty usable overall.

Given the amp modeler get a Frontman 60r. No need for tubes except, when you get the tube amp you won't want the modeler anymore.

I'm in line with everyone else, it would appear.

If you want a tube amp, get a tube amp, but don't hook it up to that thing.

If you want to use the effects, then go solid state all the way -- you basically want to let the effects unit do its job, and only rely on the amp to provide the cleanest possible amplification.

I'll say this much: I don't see myself ever buying a multi-effects unit, now that I have my 57 champ. What I do see myself buying is other tube amps, and perhaps the Fender 63 Reverb unit. That will be plenty for me. :D

I must say that I was afraid of such a configuration rig (HD300+ProJR). But I must say, the ProJr is naturally darker than most Fender amps, and the HD300 preamps gives me various options over that, I set my volume to 5 and tone to 8, then throw the Fender Twin preamp from the HD300 over it, its pure heaven, sounds like a HRDeluxe. Loads of effects, preamps options and that tube feel/dynamics the ProJr delivers. Awesome.
