I'm looking for a cheap SS amp to leave at a buddy's place because I do not want to cart around my Marshall C5 whenever I am over there. I was thinking about the Fender Frontman 25R but the store I deal with is out of stock so I wanted to ask everyone here what they thought of them before I bother asking the store to order one in for me or bother driving to another of their locations to try one out.

I am mainly concerned with the cleans - how good are they? The overdrive doesn't concern me too much as I can put a pedal in front of the amp so I was wondering if the amp takes pedals well?

If the Frontman 25R isn't great what other Fender SS products are decent? I don't need any bells and whistles, just as good a cleans as the cheaper SS amps can provide.

Thanks in advance.

I've got a friend who uses one as a practice amp and I thought the cleans were pretty good. True it is made in Asia and isn't a high end amp but at $100 I don't see how you could complain at that price. My buddy has had his for about 2 years and had no issues. If you keep in ind that you are buying an inexpensive solid state amp I think you will be pleased. My buddy often takes his to coffe house size gigs where he doesn't want to take a larger amp and it sounds fine.

I have one and love it. Cleans are extreemly clean. It's light weight but has more than enough volume. I think my signature here will show that I have 10 Fender Amps and this one is right up there with any that I own. Yo can't go wrong here and if you find you do not like it there is always someone that certainly will buy it from you.

I'd second that opinion. I love mine.

+1 to everything. I've got one I use as a practice amp and for jazz band and small church gigs. The clean's sound awesome, and in my experience the amp takes pedals great! I run my whole rig of DGFX1, DS-1, and D-2 into it and it sounds very good. For $100, a very solid little amp. Buy it.

I've had this amp for almost a year now, and its awesome. The cleans are absolutely fantastic, and very bright. Very clear too. Overdrive is great too, especially for blues. The reverb is also a nice little bonus with it. Some people complain about the speaker and, maybe I don't have the best ear, but I don't see why really. The speaker is pretty good in my opinion.

I've had mine for about 5 years, now. Still sounds great!

I have a 25R as my backup amp (Blues Deluxe Reissue is my main amp). I put a Ragin Cajun speaker in the 25R and that makes a noticable improvement in the sound, particularly in the bass. I also reinforced the 25R cabinet to get rid of all the spurious vibrations.
