The black ring is called a tone ring and retail for about $75.00. They ensure a tight fit for the speaker against the baffle board. I opted not to use them on my "Supersonic 2-12" cabinet that i made, because of the price.

Thank you for the complement. I worked hard on that cabinet. It was my first attempt at one. I will say I took my time and really was careful. You know, measure twice, cut once.

Hey guys. It aint a tone ring. It's just the Sticky soft pads that came in the celstion box that I stuck around the inside of the soundboard hole. The inside rim of the soundboard hole is painted black like the face of the soundboard.
