Hi folks

Does anyone know if it's possible to add a speaker cab to the Blues Junior. It has no separate output jack, so can the output be split between the existing speaker and an external one? It's not something i'm hell-bent on doing, i'm just curious to see if it'll work.

Regards

Marge

PS. Got the components to start doing some Billm mods to mine. Gonna start with the tone stack and go from there. Will let you know how it goes.

It is possible to use a "Y" splitter plugged into the chassis, HOWEVER using it that way would change the speaker ohms and not advisable.
Disconnecting the internal speaker and plugging in a 2x12 cab with the correct speaker ohms would work better.

Thanks Chet. By the way, your discontinued natural-wood 2x12 BJ is one of the coolest amps i've ever seen. Or, more precisely, seen some photos of. I guess when i posted this topic it was exactly that amp i had in mind.

Thanks again

Marge

Wow. That thing is amazing. It must be a proper rarity too. Presumably it was black Tolex to begin with then? Gotta sign off now, so will answer another day.

Thanks muchly

Marge

Really? That's what i have. It must've taken some work to turn it into the amp it is now. Presumably the two speakers are wired as a 2x12 cab would be? Can you tell me if the electronics are standard at all? So many questions!

Regards

Marge

The amp itself is stock, I did no electrical modifications. The cabinet was custom made to hold the amp chassis and the 2 12in. speakers are wired to be 8ohms.

Cool enclosure, Chet. The Blues Junior will drive a 4 ohm load without problems. I install aux speaker jacks all the time in these amps. And there are aftermarket output transformers with 4/8 ohm output that will also improve the tone. Here's a pic of my BJr extension cab. The top is the same size as the BJr bottom and it has the same front angle, so it "looks right" under the BJr.

The amp has the stock speaker. The cab originally had a Cannabis Rex, but now it has a Texas Heat. Both are great speakers.
