Bought a new Frontman 65R today and wanted to say thanks for the info I have found in this lounge. I have a 52 reissue tele, 92 mex Strat and a Line 6 variax. Previously a Marshall valvestate that i got rid of as was just doing acoustic gigs. back in a 4 piece blues/classic rock set up. was initially getting myself lost looking for the tones i'm after. Post from jeffo46 was really helpful in particular - just what i was after for the clean channel in particular. Also backed off the drive/reverb a little on the dist channel for a great "Keef" tone. I basically run a chorus and tubesreamer pedal for the only effects and this amp is doing the job brilliantly. Thanks again all.

I'm primarily a tube amp guy but I will say that for a solid state amp the Frontman 65R is pretty good. The lead guitarist in a local band here uses one and he sounds great, mostly doing blues music. Congratulations on your new amp.

I agree... I picked up one of these as "open mic night" amp and for gigs where I didn't want to lug my Twin RI around. It does a pretty good job for a $200 amp. The EQ seems really strange but I can get it sounding pretty good. It does seem a bit noisy but maybe that's just me. It could probably be better shielded if I took it apart to see.

All in all, a great choice. It's got a lot of juice for a 65 watt amp...

I have the 212R version and am very satisfied with this amp especially the clean tones. I use various boss pedals as well as multieffects (Boss ME70/GT10) and this amp sounds great. The drive channel is good after a bit of tweaking.

Have you found that your 65r is really "high" heavy? Do you ever get a hissy tone from your distortion pedal when using it? I love the amp but I can't seem to adjust the "highs" on my pedal or the amp itself w/o either sounding underwater or like a can of bee's.
