I turned on my 65 PRRI yesterday and there was no sound with the exception of an occasional cracking noise - then I noticed a faint burning type smell which seemed to be strongest by the on/off switch. I removed the fuse to check if it was blown and there was some light whitish discoloration around the glass but no obvious brown discoloration - There does not appear to be any discoloration on any of the tubes either - any ideas on what may have happened?

Thanks

It seems there is a short circuit in the amp. If the amp is still under warranty go to the dealer for repairing.

If no, and you have enough electronics skills, first remove V7 5AR4 rectifier valve and put a fuse and test if it blows.

Let us know.

Don't forget that those amps have voltages even unpluged that can be fatal for human.
