Hi everyone, just signed up

I just bought this new tube amp,( long time solid state user)

do you guys bring extra tubes and fuses at gigs just in case, ???

did not pick up some spare tubes or fuses, not sure if its a big concern with these amps or not as I pretty much have zero experience with tube amps,
but I play gigs most weekends, and try not to worry about fixing amps :)

thanks for the help

I prefer to bring a spare amp along when gigging.

There's no time for on-stage hysterics if/when an amp crashes.

Just fire up the spare and keep on truckin'.

Hi mca,

As Retro' said, a spare amp would be best, but at least spare output and preamp tubes are a good idea also. But if your amp fails during a show, the best distraction for the audience while you changes tubes or amps, would be a pretty girl in a bikini dancing on stage. It worked for Triumph at a show of theirs that I saw many years ago (at least I was happy!) :D

I always brought spare tubes to gigs just in case. You never know what can happen. After no matter how many number of flawless gigs, it's the one where you get complacent and don't prepare for the unexpected that the unexpected will indeed happen. Murphy's law, right?

Why don't you bring one of your solid state amps as a backup? You should be fine though. The Hot Rod Deluxe is the best selling amp ever. Sure some have problems, but there is always bound to be a few bad ones out of the thousands and thousands Fender keep pumping out.

Just google 'fender hot rod deluxe' or do a search here and familiarize yourself with your new amp through the infinite number of reviews and discussions about the Hot Rod Dlx and tube amps in general. I'm sure there is probably a half dozen Hot Rod Dlx discussions right now on this forum. Good luck!

I tried one of these:

A SS 44 watt power amp that fits in your pocket if you have big pockets, and it doesn't really sound bad at all. You could use the speaker from the HRDlx. It's pretty loud and is less than $150. Real simple.

I assume that the first part of your sentence was A, followed by two s's for Solid-State (software thinks it's a bad word)? Also the letters J and A and P together will do the same thing. I can post "WTF?", but not "what the $@!&".

Wow supro great find, especially if you've got a spare spot on your pedal board, 1 extra cable in the back of your amp and away you go.

I've been using my Line 6 Pod XT Live as a backup, I use it specifically for efffects (I basically have only 2 spots filled), but if my amp dies I can turn on amp modelling, line out straight to the PA and get some guitar added to my foldback. Haven't had to do that yet.
