I was thinking about disabling the brightness switch on the vibrato channel. Is this an easy thing I can do myself? I also read that the brightness effect is less the higher the volume is turned up. If I plugged my guitar into the lower gain vibrato 2 channel to allow myself to turn the volume knob up more (and keep the same effective volume) would this be another good way to bypass the brightness effect? I normally plug into vibrato channel 1 but typically can only leave vol at about 3. Thanks for any help on this.

Gonna be tough to do since there doesn't appear to be a bright switch on the DRRI.

I meant bright cap. I've since found some info on disabling the bright cap and prob don't want to try that at this point, but does anyone have any input on my second question? Is it stupid to plug into the lower gain input 2 on the vibrato channel with a guitar? Forgive me if that's a dumb question but I admit I'm a newbie about the amp and really would like to know.

The "bright cap" (it's C10 on the schematic) is actually tied to the vibrato channel's volume control. Thus, using the "2" input will still rout your guitar's signal through it. Its effect on tone diminishes as the volume increases and by the time your volume knob setting reads "4" or "5" the bright cap is effectively bypassed. For more "grunt" at lower volumes try adding an overdrive pedal in front to fatten things up. A Fulltone OCD (or similar stompbox) will let the amp "breathe" better.

Best of luck, HTH
