I use a Fender Blues Delux Reissue in the Praise & Worship team and I think it sounds AWSOME....I used a Twin Reverb 1971 at one time but they are heavy HEAVY HEAVY...I also use an Acoustic Simulator for some songs and works very well.

I think that the Egnater Rebel 20 head, or the Rebel 30 head would be the way to go. The separate amp and cabinet would be easier to carry. I played the Rebel 30 at GC and thought that it sounded wonderful. I plan to make my next amp purchase an Egnator Rebel 30 head because I like the idea of the separate head and cabinet better than a combo, and the head/cab is more versatile (already have combos). If only Fender had more choices in heads... :(

Thanks for all the great info. A friend of mine suggested I check out the Vox AC30 instead of the HRD. It's a bit beyond my budget, but I'm looking for the best quality for the price. Thoughts?

If you like the Vox, then again please try a Peavey classic 50.

I also use a Blues Deluxe re-issue in worship. It was kinda loud (stage volume) but I added a volume pedal and plug into input 2 and it solved the loudness issue. It still kinda heavy though!

I also just bought a Blues Junior NOS and am looking forward to trying it out. My initial feeling is that the BJ has more grit to it, where the BDRI is cleaner sounding.

Hi C.P. the AC 30 is a very loud and heavy 30 W amp but it sounds just delicious with a Tele, the AC 15 is plenty loud and cheaper and lighter than the AC 30.The Vox Valvetronix and the older AD 30s,60s, and 120,s are also great options with 16 Amp models that are incredibly faithful to the amps they're based on and their effects modes have to be heard to be believed -they're that good.BTW the AD series with the blue grills are no longer made but a good used one can be picked up pretty cheap and they're even better than the Valvetronix that replaced them according to Voxphiles including myself.

Here's the rest of the Vox AD series info:The Ad and Valvetronix series have a very large and realistic effects section .The main effects dial contains 10 desirable effects, they are: 1. Compressor with drive adjustment 2. Acoustic modeling to create acoustic like tones from solid body electric 3. Vox wah can be set indifferent positions for cool tones but really needs the optional VC-4 or VC-12 footcontrollers to get full wah effect 4. Auto Wah 5.Univibe-just like the original 6.Octave-drops note one octave or you can mix 2 octaves 7.Treble Boost-like top boost in AC 30 8. Tube Overdrive based on the old "seasick green" 9. Fat Overdrive 10.Fuzz retro sound fuzz. All these effects have 2 control modes depending on the effect.
There are also modulation effects 1.Chorus 2.Flanger 3. Phaser 4.Tremolo 5. Rotary-sounds just like a Leslie all have speed and depth controls.
There is also a fabulous echo system with tap function and 3 types of echo 1.Delay 2.Tape 3. Multi Head these are also fully adjustable.
Then there's 3 reverb types also fully adjustable they are: 1.Spring 2.Room 3. Plate.
There's a very sensitive control section with Gain,Volume,Treble,Middle, Bass,Presence and Master. It also has noise reduction.
There are 32 preset programs that offer the same tones that are on famous songs as well as 32 more you can program yourself. With the VC 12 Foot Controller this increases to 128 preset programs. All in all these amps are just about all you need as they cover just about the whole tonal spectrum of famous amp models. The 4-12 BN cabinet comes with either specially voiced Wharfedale speakers designed by Steve Grimrod who designed the original Celestion Greenbacks and Vox Bulldogs or you can pay extra for Celestion Greenbacks.I paid only $400 for my AD120VTH and another $400 for the 4-12BN-with Wharfedales so for $800 I got 16 of the finest amps ever made and all the effects I ever need.I picked up a used VC 12 for another $150 and that really enhanced the versatility of the amp.Oh yes one more thing it can be set at 1,15,30 or 60W X 2 as it is stereo. You can pick up the combos in 30, 60 or 120 W versions for much cheaper and VC 12s are still available as NOS in a lot of stores or used on E bay etc. however I can't see why anyone would part with one of these.

I play almost nightly with someone doing modern Worship stuff.
In new production Fender amps i like the Super Sonic a LOT.
I personally have 3 rigs.
1- Marshall 2501 JCM 900 Dual Master. No cleans but very organic tones and cleans up well with teh guitar volume + has the second master for a solo boost.

2- Tweeked Fender Prosonic combo converted to a 1/12. All NOS glass and a metal MONSTER!!! I run this rig for outdoor gigs where I need punch and POWER!

3- My main day to day rig is a Zinky Blue Velvet 25 watt combo. IMO this is the ULTIMATE church rig with HUGE smoooth crunches and great clean at a whisper + enough power and volume on tap to easily get over a loud drummer.

I have to go unmiked at my church but I play
lead so it s not that big a deal since I 'm
trying to cut through but the super reverb
sounds great from 2 to 8 so it would be a good choice
but in your cas to get the most full sound
without two much power I would strongly suggest
you take a look at the custom vibrolux beautiful
cleans and can even crunch a little it is 40 watts
and the revrb is awesome I used my buddys for
a little while and it was beautiful I just didn't
have a channel on the board so once the acoustic
tha bass the drums and drums got going I could
barely keep up but that was unmiked with a mike it
would have been great
(I know in my signature I have A DSL and let me tell
there is nothing more fun than cranking with an sg
but that is more for youth activities not morning worship)

+1 to the DRRI. For worship music a HRDlx is a little excessive. 40 watts is a bit much, especially one as growly as an HRDlx. The DRRI is a very sweet sounding, room filling amp in my experience. However, should you need to, it can crank very nicely as well.

in my experience in my church the guitarists use pretty much every type of amp. my friend has played thru a 15 watt 1940s vega amp and the next week played though a marchall JCM2000 60 watt combo with a 4X12 cab with no problems. just pick what type of amp you like the sond of and they probably can mic it to however loud u need

I use an OCD Overdrive, Boss dd-20 Delay, Boss Chorus, and Phaser primarily. Pretty heavy on the Overdrive and Delay.

Any advice on this would be great!

Does your church have a PA system and sound board and active soundman?
Sorry if this has been asked before.
I understand that many have gone the route of front of house systems.
If so, you may want to talk to the soundman for additional considerations.

We have one at our church and it's kind of hard to keep down. When I use it I have to cut my guitar volume to about half. I think the problem is they used the wrong volume pot in them, they should have used an audio pot instead of a linear pot.

We mic everything through the PA and all I do is use my amp as my monitor.

The Hot Rod amps are not one of my favorite Fender amps and you'll find out for yourself why if you buy one.
