Hi All! I'm thinking about picking up a used Deluxe Memory Man (not the XO), but I've heard it doesn't work too well without an effects loop. Since there is no effects loop on the DRRI, what would it sound like? I'm sure I'm not the first person to use this effect on this amp :D Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Whoever told you that the Memory Man (or any delay pedal for that matter) cannot be used without an effects loop is full of bull. That amp and pedal sound like a great combo to me.

Case in point: Eric Johnson. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=er ... a&gs_rfai=
Probably the best known guitarist to use Deluxe Reverbs and Memory Man. If his super-human hearing is fine with that combo, then I think it's OK :P

Guitarists have been using delays in amps without effects loops for decades. However, there can be a different sound at higher volumes or gain settings which your friend with the misleading info might be referring to. In high gain amps or if you want your repeats to be squeeky clean at high volume, you might prefer to put the delay in the effects loop. If you don't mind a little grit to the repeats or have a super clean amp to begin with (Twin Reverb for example) than you can get by without an effects loop. It's all a matter of taste. There is no right answer.

Thank you, my friend! I appreciate your help.
