I do some amateur jamming and typically place my Blues Jr or Line6 on a metal chair. At times, I just play it on the ground. I have heard various opinions on either option. Some say raising the amp and tilting it improves sonic projection. Others say, true, but at a loss of bass response because the amp is not in contact with the ground....

I have thought of buying either an amp stand that tilts like this

Or a gadget like this:

I am turning to you, my fellow Fender forum pals and all around guitar amp gurus for some consenus. 8)

Rule of thumb for pub stage setup.

Bass amps on the floor.
Guitar amps on a crate or a table.
PA speakers on stands up at head height.

At home, or playing out on your own, it doesn't matter much, whatever you prefer. Try all options.

Yep, keep that amp up off the floor and some tilt wouldn't hurt. That amp stand seems to be excellent, and if it's mic'd, the sound person will be real happy. But otherwise, chair, table, or crate will be superior to leaving it on the floor. You had the right idea, using the chair ! Art

Hi There.

Personally, I do not care for either one. The first one, it will insulate the amp from the stage (Loosing bass response) and the center part looks weak to me.

I ain't settin' my prize amp on it.

The second one it better, but again, I think it is too weak of a design.
Fender for years sold chrome side plates for there amps to let you tilt them back (Seen them on twins)

Here is a new Fender set 14 inch leg kit.....

Since you blues Junior is 16 inch's high, it should be made to work on it.
It will look good, add to the value let you kick back the amp while keeping it solidly on the floor, and it's a fender part.

I don't see a down side here.

Audiences occasionally comment that they have trouble hearing my diminuitive combo amp so I've taken to elevating it by adding a small extension cab to my rig and stacking the pieces......

I haven't really noticed any loss of bass response due to de-coupling the amp from the floor......

Seriously, the idea of a small stand or installing tilt-back legs is a sound one (pardon the pun). If you find the amp's tone seems a little on the bright side, roll the treble off a skosh -- it's more efficient than jacking up the bass control.

If you don't use monitor speakers when gigging it's almost imperative to raise and tilt the amp so that you can hear what you're playing.I've always put my combo amps on a chair or table when gigging, granted there's a little drop in bass response but not drastic and that's what tone controls are there for.

I think a guitar amp sounds best if it's as close to ear level as possible. Have you evey gone into a music store and gotten a fantastic sound when trying out a guitar or amp? Notice that you are sitting on a stool and the amp is probably up off the floor and probably close to ear level. That setup probably gives you the best sound and probably sells a lot of guitars and amps.

I bought one of these recently and was very happy with it when I used it at an outdoor jam. Can't beat the price/value either.
