Hi friends!

I recently bought the BD Reissue and got some hard work to set tone...
I'm from Brazil, there's hard to buy a Gibson guitar or Fender American.
Just to know, a BD RI it's about $2.500,00, an Epihone costs $1.600,00... damn...

So, i have an Epiphone Les Paul STD... Stock Pickups (Classic Alnico), no upgrades yet.
I heard some samples of BD + LP and was great, but i'm having trouble with the hight output of humbuckers and very hight bass...

I've tried inputs 1/2... all had high BASS, i had to set pot bass to 3 and it's not sounding right... I can reduce bass with low volume on guitar (about 3-4) but tone and drive are affected....

Could be my guitar pickups?
If u had played LP with this amp, please post an review...

Thx

Hi BluesmanRS,

Have you tried lowering the bass side of your pickups with the adjustment screw? Play around with the height on both sides to get the tone that you want. :)

Years ago I used to play my Gibson Historic Shop R9 re-issue with Classic '57 humbuckers through a stock Hot Rod Deluxe (similar in many respects to the Blues Deluxe). It cut through the mix pretty well as I recollect. My original '57 Les Paul Junior with a single P90 played through the same amp sounded a little "phatter" but still had plenty of treble.

i have an epi stanard too and use an electro harmonics lpb-1 between it and the amp. i did a little modification to the pedal. i changed the c1 cap to a .oo47 micro farad and the c2 cap to a .01 micro farad this changes the pedal to a very responsive treble booster (think bluesbreaker tone)and set the amps tone controls to a middle or just past. if you have access to an e.h. lpb-1 get it and don't be afraid to experiment. oh yeh put a compressor pedal in the effects loop and turn the guitar tone controls volume full and tone 0.

You're right about BDRI, with my Washburn Hawk (high level humbucker), I notice also a lot of bass at low volume but very precise notes and I play on the drive "stage" and sounds better, may the sound is a little more compressed. With my 52' telecaster is sounds very very good using clean "channel(Tele + BDRI is amazing from my point of view). I've got other guitares (hofner) sounds like a standard strat without 7ender name, the Teardrop Asthon a little bit flat but worst with my Vox.

So, yesterday i was on my luthier...
The amp is perfect, the problem is with my Les Paul.
I plugged an Ibanez JEM for tests, sounded great.

Luthier saw tha could be a wood problem, I think i need better caps too...
I'm redoing the eletrical conections and testing pots and caps.

I'll post results!
