$550 for an assembled Mission 5E3 is a pretty good price!

I just saw a 57 deluxe kit from Mission go for 550 on ebay.Fully assembled. That would be a better option.

Unless somebody really botched it, that's a great deal.

Like I mentioned in another post about the '57 Deluxe...I bought one and it sounds great,I own several vintage amps, among them 2 Deluxe Reverbs,a '66 and '67...the '57 Deluxe RI sounds really close, without reverb of course, but you really don't miss it.
I find myself playing it more and more, and would not hesitate to gig with it.
If you don't feel like you can put together a Deluxe kit and don't want to chunk down $ 3500 + for an original that could be hacked inside....if you can afford a Deluxe RI and want one,go for it.
I did replace the Jensen RI for a Weber Alnico,it's a personal preference...the Jensen sounded fine.

How would you characterize the difference ?

Man,that's kind of a hard question because I didn't leave the Jensen in for long,I like Weber speakers and have them in all my amps.
I have to say,for the couple of weeks I had the Jensen in it was starting to open up and sound good,it was not broken in yet and so I can't make a good comparison to the Weber....it's still breaking in also, but has a great mid range bark with clear highs.
I've thought about putting the Jensen in a BF Deluxe Reverb and playing it for awhile because the Weber in that one is a ceramic magnet speaker.
