Hi all:

I was in the music store recently, and I had thought that I was settled on a Hot Rod Deville 410 amp, until I decided to try a Blues Deville 410 amp and found the sound much more transparent, yielding the real vibe from whatever guitar I plugged into it.

However, I decided to unplug the Blues Deville speakers and used the amp to drive the speakers inside the Hot Rod Deville 410 amp. I found that the sound had a bit less midrange and a little more on the highs, which I actually liked.

I decided that after I recover from the holiday spending, I'm going to get the Blues Deville amp but with an extra set of speakers from the Hot Rod amp.

Have any of you with this particular amplifier experimented with speaker swaps? If so, what was your experience? I guess its all subjective depending on the player.

Would mixing speakers be advisable in the same 410 cabinet, as long as the impedances were the same? Perhaps keeping two of the stock Blues Deville speakers, and then using two of the Hot Rod Deville speakers.

I would have been nice for the Blues Deville amp had the "extra drive" button. However, I just upgraded my pickups in my Gibson SG from the Burstbuckers to the 500T and 496R type, which are way hotter output, so I now have just about the amount of gain I want out of the amp.
