hey y'all I am the proud new owner of a fender hot rod deville 4x10.

ill post pics as soon as I get them. in the mean time I have a nice little review of this amp.
I've had it for about a week now and put a few days worth of play on it.
I bought it from GC in brand new condition for $580. it seems very well built although I am skeptical because everyone and their mother avoids this series? yea it is very heavy lol and rated at 60 watts this thing is LOUD!
I mostly use just the cleans and my oh my they are beautiful. if I need distortion I use a boss ds1.
I mostly play coldplay, airborne toxic event and other experimental acts and this amp does it well.
what's with all the negativity on this series?
any suggestions to prevent future problems?
I also put a small fan on behind the amp when I use it.

pics and clips soon ;]

Hi tonyd927,

The HRDvl has a slightly different power supply than the HRDlx and so has less heat from the components in that area, so the HRDvl shouldn't have the same power supply problem that the HRDlx has. It wouldn't hurt to check the solder joints in your amp and touch up any that might be cold or cracked. I have had mine for almost two years and it's been great so far (light duty). If you ask me, the HRDvl is the best one of the Hot Rod series. I think that it's a great amp, but the reference by Retroverbial was about someone who had the worst experience with his HRDlx, not the HRDvl. :D

Edit: P.S., skip the fan, not necessary. :)
