..... I'm sorry, but I don't see why you are making such a fuss about this.

If it were my cheap, PCB mass produced Hot Rod Deluxe I wouldn't have cared either.

Have some cheese with your whine. It is what it is. Get over it and enjoy your new amp or take it back and shut up.

Good. Then you can all rise up against the establishment and show them the error of their ways.

Wow.... this seems to be bothering you a lot more than it is me.

Let's see if we can start over....
I am not complaining about Fender or my amp at all.
I'm saying it stinks that they would have to make these changes to their amps, especially vintage models, and I was wondering if they will have to make these kinds of changes across their entire line.

OK?

It doesn't bother me at all.

You asked a question about why thse changes were made. It was answered.

You complained that you bought something that was not as advertised. You were shown that Fender has provided the required disclaimer.

You asked if anyone else has experienced this. Seems like you are looking for a sympathetic ear.

You complain that it stinks because Fender is making these changes. If you notice, the original 57 Deluxe had a ground lift switch. That has been replaced in the Reissue with a standby switch. Authentic? No. Done for safety reasons? Well, I was only 3 years old in 1957, but I am guessing that the original Deluxe had a two prong, non-polarized plug. In that time, a ground lift switch may have been necessary. Today I am guessing that the Reissue has a three prong plug. A ground lift switch may be unnecessary. A standby switch may be more desireable even though it is not authentic.

As far as your last question on whether Fender will be making this and other changes to its amps, I sure don't know. It depends on the amp design and running changes are always possible.

Now, accept your new amp for what it is and go enjoy it. :)

Not to mention safety changes due to mandated regulations for todays manufacturers! They cannot be made exactly as they were years ago! DUH!

Really, like bluesky said,it's not an exact replica,I have '57 Deluxe RI that is great but it's still a new amp...with new changes...look inside one if you are aware of the high voltage and know what you're doing...you'll see some fuses and connections that are not vintage correct and also the chassis is ventilated, the originals are not.
But on the outside it looks right and sounds great.

Yeah I understand this isn't an exact 57 Deluxe reproduction.
Sprague connectors, modern switches and pots etc.
Makes sense. I'm fine with that.
It's just the rubber covered power and standby switches that look dumb.
You said yours looks right on the outside. I'm guessing you don't have them.
No problem, I'll find some hex nuts and replace them.

I wonder if this was done for electrical or heat insulation reasons ?

No,I don't have them on mine and I can only guess that it's done because the switches do get warm if it's on for a good while but it's no problem, all my tube amps get hot,but not too hot....that chassis gets warm there but you only feel it for a second when you turn the amp off,it's not like a part that will severely burn you under normal operating conditions.
I bought mine in a local store and didn't know about the rubber covers until you wrote this...it's always something, but you can fix that, good thing is they sound great!
