I have same conundrum... Pro jnr or VoxAC4TV for use in bedroom. Will theVox be better as it has a 1 watt setting... Will the fender be to loud before it breaks up a little. I have just been to local music store yesterday and tried both! Vox warm, British and breaks up pretty quick. Fender sparkly and clean. I then attached my Pod 2 to the front. On the Vox it was ok but the character of the amp flavoured the effects too much for me. Plugged inenderSender... Wow... Now I have gain and crunch at low volumes if I want... and sparkly tweed cleans too. Fender all the way to my ears if you are using pedals. If you are not then the Amps are very different... Depends if you want clean or dirty... Get both! I'm going fender!

That was very clarifing thanks! So you think I´ll be good with a Pro Jr and some pedals ?
Flavored in witch way you mean ? Didnt the ProJr sounded kinda dead at low volumes ?

Thanks for the quality explanation!

I cant see me gign for a while yet... just to amateur for that.

Let me expose my mind a bit. GILMOUR, HENDRIX, THE EDGE. Those are the guys that I want to get a "closer" tone, I know with that kinda equipment I cannot nail them. But I want to get the tones just about close if so.

AC4TV vs. PROJR. Pretty much hard to choose by my point of view.

The AC4TV is great for a 4W Class A, sure I can crank it up in my house for pure tube overdriven tones. But lacks that sparkly fender clean tone, yes. I intend to use it along with a Tonelab ST and a analog delay unit.

The PROJR is a much louder amp than I need for 15W. But this makes me think about the future, when I someday shall need more power, its there. But here I cannot crank it on my home for satturated tones. Then I think of using a Fulltone OCD for it. May I get some nice overdriven tones as the AC4TV haves by itself ?

Both options will be good for the 3 guys I mentioned before ?

Gilmour i think used marshall's and hiwatt's. maybe fenders at times also, he used a lot of stuff. but he probably used blackface circuit fenders, i.e. not pro jr-sounding. hendrix = marshall, edge = vox.

hope that doesnt complicate things, just thought you'd like to know.

this might make things confusing though...the pro jr is often called a baby marshall for its mid-heavy tweed tone and el84 power tubes. not the typical fender tone there.

dude i think you realized already what i will say here. how much does volume and available power mean to you? if you intend to gig someday, you will wish you had that 15 watts. i use pro jr to gig in small venues often, sometimes without a mic. it handles gigs pretty well in many bars and clubs. you can always use a dirtbox if you have to be quiet. its always better to have more than you need, in reasonable amount of course.

actually, you can use any amp in gigs if you have a mic. something to think about...but i still like having the freedom to turn up higher if i have to.
examples: mike campbell from the heartbreakers gigs with fender princeton recording amps (its princeton something). pro jr's and similar small fender tweed amps have been used on stage many times by jeff beck, clapton, nils lofgren, elvis costello. i know warren haynes records with a pro jr sometimes, not sure if it sees the stage. anyway, every one has a mic in front of it.
smart guitarists have realized that big loud amps are a nice way to make big profits for conning musical manufacturers, and that good PA systems are superior even to a 100 watt tube amp. make use of that, and you can put a small amp with the tubes cooking to use at any gig. so you might be thinking Vox at this point, which is the logical thing to do with this information, but personally i feel safer with that extra little bit of power available in the pro jr if i need it in any situation. you gotta ask yourself what you intend to do down the road

Yeah, boy I am confuse! I wish I could buy the 2 of them! But I´m again leading now to the Pro Jr, thinking that with a Tonelab ST Ill be able to simulate an AC30TB on it for some u2 sounds. If the ProJr is kinda marshall sounding, Ill do good with Hendrix on it dont I ? And for Gilmour... maybe trying simulate a Bassman on the ProJr and some Muff ?

I´ve done some thinking this day.

1. Lots said the AC4TV is a little AC30 sounding amp.
2. The Tonelab ST has AC15 and AC30 amp modelers. And everyone says it sounds good.

So wouldnt it be more versatile for me to buy the Pro Jr and use the Tonelab ST to get the voxy sounding ?

In the other hand, I think the tweed amp model on the Tonelab ST wouldnt sound that good through a vox ac4tv taking its already a pretty much caracterized amplifier already right ?
