Saw this listed on the Elderly website. It's supposed to have a better taper on the volume and treble pots, a tighter overdrive and a black control panel. I think the speaker is different too. Anybody heard anything about this?

Hi honeytone,

The Hot Rod Deluxe III is also available at world music supply.

I saw that they also have a Blues Junior III at world music supply, which is in the Hot Rod series too.

Maybe they are redoing all of the Hot Rod amps? :)

Edit: Yep, just checked and found the Pro Junior, and both HRDvl 2x12 and 4x10 are all version III now.

I assume that the first version V I is the US model, and V II would be when they moved production to Mexico (major revisions), now we have V III. :)

You mean all the complaining may have worked? I'd wait a while. They "tightened up" the overdrive which I did with a tube change, and put in a different speaker.

On the plus side, it seems like they are using audio taper pots which is a good thing. It's a shame they didn't chassis mount the tube sockets instead of "streamlining" the footswitch.

All are improvements, It's getting closer to being something better. Hopefully some of the reliability issues were addressed.

 C'mon! That improvement alone makes the new amp worth it! It will improve the tone AND prevent a socked foot from snagging it. Throw in a black panel and man.....tone heaven!

I always wondered why those amps from the 60's were tone heaven. It was the black panels. Cool. Thanks! This one's got a black panel... AND a black grille. I bet this thing's gonna be the best amp ever.

Any word on whether the changes to the volume controls will also extend to the Blues Deluxe and Deville??
