Has anyone heard of Fender planning to add a common modification to the production Blues Jr?

I got word of this today at my local music store and, so far, can't find anything about it.

I would like to know as I have a Bjr and would know what type of mod they are planning on adding.

Thanks

One word of caution, If you have a warranty and you mod the amp you void the warranty which is pretty necessary in any Hot Rod series amp. There are tons of mods available for you amp.

I hope that they make the bias adjustable, that would be the best mod that they can do. I can see no advantage whatsoever for the EL84s in the BJr to be idling at over 13 watts! I am just finishing mine up, trying two different tube types, will post the results soon. (Hint: 9 watts idle seems to be pretty sweet) :D

My local guitar store salesman showed me a preview brochure on the new generation 3 blues junior that he got online from fender and the two things I remember most
are that they were putting in some sort of tube tamer system and a larger jewel light. I dont remember much being done to the circuitry.

Oh sorry, you're talking about Fender making some sort of revision to the board? It would be nice, but I doubt it. Production revisions can be a pretty big deal. It doesn't really need a bias trim pot. It just needs a resistor change to lower the bias voltage. But half the sound they want comes from the tubes running that hot.

Just the addition of a standby switch would suit me fine.

Did the standby switch too, it is great. Replaced the stock switch with a three position switch. :D

FMIC should've put a standby switch on the PRRI using that method......it's about a six-dollar mod.

Hi all,

Found the "BJr III" at world music supply:

http://www.worldmusicsupply.com/Fender-Blues-Junior-III.html

Looks like
* Black Panel (instead of chrome)
* New Badges
* Vintage Fender "dog bone" handle
* Vintage Sized Jewel Light
* "Sparkle" Mod
* Heavy Duty Set Screw Chicken Head Knobs
* Rattle reducing shock absorbers for the EL84 power tubes
* 12 inch, 8 ohm 50 Watt Fender® “Lightning Bolt” speaker by Eminence®
* External Speaker Jack

Hey, who wanted an external speaker jack? Looks like you called that one!

It's refreshing to learn that someone in Scottsdale is actually paying attention to customers' complaints and suggestions.

There may indeed be hope......

Ya a Blues jr. that sounds good out of the box !!
Now thats worth checking out !!!

Now where will it be made ???? please not China !!!!

Same speaker they put in that 22 watt super-sonic, that isn't getting very good reviews here or elsewhere.

I wonder why Fender makes no mention of all this goodness:

http://www.fender.com/products/search.p ... 0213205000

I see another post on something similar being done to the Pro Jr. and sold by the same company. However, I cannot find a similar amp being sold by other companies (Sweetwater, Guitar Center). Kinda makes me wonder if this a a dealer unique model and not part of the standard Fender line.

I just watched a video from world music supply on the Blues Jr. III amp.

I don't actually know what a "Tube Tamer" is, however, this thing sounds just like my Mexi Blues Jr. The Black face panel is a nice touch. I really don't care for the shiny face panel on my Blues Jr. It's too hard to read the numbers in stage lighting. I just go by the pointers and try to get close.

I thought they would do something special for the Bjr. III, however I think it's more cosmetic than functional. I'll think I'll just keep mine as is until the warranty runs out then try some type of Tone mods.
