No. It is in the Hot Rod series. Lots of people, including pros, love the Deville. Some distrust their reliability on here, some don't. If you like it, buy it. :)

Most pros have spares on stage or run two with ab A/B box just in case. Many of them are rentals too.
I agree with Arjay, The whole HRD series is poorly and cheaply designed.
You can do a lot better for your money.

It worked for me! I walked out of the store with my brand-new Hot Rod Deville 4x10 for $770 including tax! I have only had it for a couple of years and it has worked well for me, no problems. I thought that the Deville was the best of the HR series, time will tell. :)

Did we change horses again? Started off with the Blues Deville, ended up with a Hot Rod Deville.....? BTW, 63supro, I got to play on the Egnater Rebel 30 yesterday at GC. You could not be more right on about that amp, I was thoroughly impressed. At first I was a little intimidated by the unfamiliar controls, but found that the controls are marvelously simple and easy to use. With separate EQ, switches and reverb controls for each channel, you set the sound and don't have to mess with anything except the blend knob. Great amp! I almost bought it on the spot, but "I shall return" and it will be mine very soon. Thanks for the recommendation! :D

Hey Stellows13:

If you are buying a Blues Deville brand new, you are buying the Blues Deville Reissue. That and the Blues Deluxe Reissue (which I have) are significantly improved over the original Blues Deville and Blues Deluxe. Read any of the forums and you will find that the Reissues are much more reliable than the originals. Keep in mind that the orignal Blues Deluxe/Deville amps were introduced in about 1993 and were the basis for the Hot Rod series. The Hot Rod series evolved from the Blues and inherited all of the original Blues problems. The new Blues Reissues do not have those problems. If you like the sound of the Blues Deluxe Reissue and can get a good price, buy it. $70 for a set of tubes from Eurotubes will get you great sound without spending half again as much for a 59 Bassman Reissue (which has a printed circuit board by the way  ).

There's an eBay store that sells mod kits for Hot Rod amps (including the blues DeVille) for $90, no shipping. Its a complete recap, new volume pots, transformers, lead dress, input jack, everything you can think of.....complete with directions. Maybe eventually you might throw in some better speakers, but this is a great way to make a decent amp a great one.
It had a solid state rectifier, so the bottom end can be a little flabby. The mids can be pretty loose at low volumes, too, but the mod seems to tighten it up quite a bit. Reverb is a wash past 2, and is pretty much worthless, but this mod kit cures all its flaws.
I dont want to sound like a commercial, so I wont tell you the name, but a search will pop it right up. Great way to improve the quality and reliability.

Before I did all that and voided the warranty, I dumped mine. You shouldn't have to mod a new amp that extensively to make it sound decent. You should just keep looking. The revisions made to the Hot Rod series didn't address the heat related issues and seriously flawed component choice. If you gig heavily it's a total crap shoot.

You'll never be able to play it at home. The volume pots are not taper, so volume 1 is almost off and volume 2 is very, very loud. A friend had one and got rid of it within a month because he couldn't use it a home. Maybe for professional studio use or on stage, if you're at that level. For the average joe, way too much amp....

I have seen people make that same claim about the Blues Deluxe, and personally, I believe those people don't know how to operate this amp. I am looking at a Blues Deluxe/Deville Reissue schematic. Both the clean volume and drive gain contols are log/audio taper pots, as are the bass and treble pots. The middle, drive master, and reverb are linear taper pots. The presence control is a reverse audio taper. Except for a few minor components, power supply, and of course speakers, the Blues Deluxe and Deville Reissue designs are identical.

I normally use input #2 at home on my BDRI (6 dB pad) and can get a wide range of volume control between 2 and 8. Even using input #1 I have no problem with the amp being unusably loud at 2. I believe the same should hold true with the Blues Deville Reissue if one takes the tiem to get to know the amp.

Didnt do it to sound "decent", did it make it sound great. I buy amps to mod to get them to do and sound exactly how I want them to. 4 years with the DeVille as a backup to my AC30, with no problems. After the mod, it moved to the number one spot.
Even if you buy a Deluxe Reverb, the caps ,pots, and speakers are still crap, and need to be replaced. So you'll just be modding and voiding the warranty on a more expensive amp.

Nope. It's the cornerstone of the "POS" line.

Now that's funny! Thanks for the chuckle.
