The sales staff at the store will love you.

I'd keep saving up and get a 59 Bassman RI or a Super Reverb Reissue. IMO Sounds way better, is built better, has the tube sockets mounted to the chassis instead of the PCB, doesn't use pressboard for the cabinet and is just a more professional piece of equipment than any Hot Rod amp. It's also way more reliable too. I know it's more money, but I like having mostly trouble free equipment. My HRDlx was a reliability nightmare so I dumped it. I think the tech had it more than I did. Some folks have no problem with them. The Blues series isn't quite as bad as the HRDlx, but it does have it's share of problems. It's a crap shoot. Are you normally real lucky? If you are, go for it and congrats.
Use your own guitar when you try it out. You should also try as many amps as you possibly can in your price range.

Because you'll be paying full price for the amp and the sales dude will get a bigger comission.
The game is to not pay full sticker price especially if it's the MSRP listed on the tag. If you're "close enough" to saving up, flash that cash in front of the sales dude now and see what happens. It could be good enough for a sale.

If you REALLY want a blues deville, check out craigs .These amps go cheap on the used market.Just sold my blues deluxe in mint condition for 425.Seriously ,a Bassman will kick its little behind in the tone department and you wont be on a first name basis with the amp tech. You can surely get a Bassman ri used for quite a bit cheaper than a BDX.

If he's a real friend, ask him to hook you up with a Bassman. You'll be way better off. The Bassman will cut a mix way better too.

Odds are, that "care" will be administered via warranty repairs by an authorized Fender Service Center.

Often.

Stepping up to the next amp line in Fender's food chain -- the re-issues -- will tip the scales to your favor significantly.

Best of luck, HTH

Is the Hot Rod Blues DeVille not a RI?

Nope. It's the cornerstone of the "POS" line.

No. It is in the Hot Rod series. Lots of people, including pros, love the Deville. Some distrust their reliability on here, some don't. If you like it, buy it. :)

Put that grand into a Deluxe Reverb re-issue and a couple of righteous pedals -- you won't regret it and you'll never be frustrated with it.
