search the site as this has been covered extensively.

If Fender's search isn't working for you, Google has site-specific search that works great:

in google type:

The "harsh" sound on the DRRI's vibrato channel when using overdrive and distortion pedals could be the fault of the bright cap (a capacitor connected to the input that increases high frequencies. The Super Reverb and Twin Reverb to turn the brightness on or off. The DRRI is hardwired "on"). Many people cut this cap off the circuit board to tame the high end and make it more pedal friendly. But the higher you turn the volume up on the vibrato channel the less effect the bright cap has. I couldn't detect it around 4-5 on my DRRI and it got along well with my Tubescreamer type pedals and high gain distortions. At low volume the sound was nasty with those pedals. Although my favorite sound was plugging straight in with no pedals and cranking the amp.

Might want to consider Xotic's BB Preamp, AC Boost, or RC Boost. How about a good old fashion, cheap, Boss Blues Driver?? The Tube Screamer is equally classic. Fulltone's OCD gets good reviews too.

I guess it's a question of how much you want to spend and the type of OD/distortion you're looking for (i.e. true overdrive, vs. fuzz vs. metal etc).

Matt

Try the Marshall Guv'nor-the older metal box model if you can find one- they can give you anything from a nice Bluesbreaker type warm lucious overdrive to a raging JCM 800 roar.
