I just got a Fender Blues Jr NOS Tweed and I love the tone. Anyone know of some good songs to learn that sound great on the amp?

A bazillion years ago, I was TRYING to be Joe Shredder & this guy came over and said speed is nothing without emotion. And stuck some old Peter Green Fleetwood Mac stuff in the player. If you can catch the feel with the least number of notes, think this helps go a long ways to being a good player of a variety of styles.

I also like those old timers who can laid down a 15 second riff that sticks in your mind forever (read: Keefer, James Burton, etc). Not that Larry Carlton's intro to SD's "Don't Take Me Alive" isn't classic. So many great songs/styles, so little time (just like women, eh)?

If it sounds good on a vintage style Strat, then it'll sound good through a Blues Junior..

Congrats on the new amp. Play any songs you want on any amp with any guitar. This is music. There are no rules. You can even play your own songs.

How about start by picking your favorite band and learn one of their songs? Have fun!

BINGO !!!!!
And just because the name says "Blues" in it doesn't make it a "Blues" amp. Every amp can be a "Blues" amp. There are no special songs for any amp. It's purpose is to makr your guitar louder. That's it. If it sounds good to your ears along the way, you win.

I play everything on my Blues Jr. from blues to classic rock. It's not suited for metal-not that that's a problem for me-infact that's a plus lol. The Blues Jr. is just a versatile little amp that's suitable for just about anything. Beatles songs sound great on a Blues Jr.

there's also "Cindy Incidentally" , "Stay with Me", "You're so Rude", "Miss Judy" all by Rod Stewart and the Faces, Ron Wood (currently of the Stones) was the guitarist at the time, absolutely killer tone...

Yes this was back in the pleistocene era, the 70's....

Yep,I call it creating tension and then resolving it to make the solos more interesting.....it's all about feel.
Somewhere not too long ago I read that soloing is about making hundreds of split second decisions about what to play and what not to play...and the writer asked "can you imagine the notes Jimi Hendrix chose not to play?" 8)
