Howdy Folks,

Well Yesterday I went to a sale at a music shop and picked up this baby brand new for $1100 AUD.

I got to talking with a bloke that always looks after me at this store and he told me that it is the first time in 15 years that they had a 40% 1 day only sale.

So I took the opportunity and grabbed myself a lovely Blues Deluxe Tweed Amp.

This is my first Tweed Amp ever and I"m lovin the tone.

I add this to my collection so far of a Fender Hotrod Deville 410, Fender Frontman 212R, Fender Blues Junior, now the Blues Deluxe and soon to be in 4 weeks a Brand New Pro Tube Fender Twin Amp.

Anyway here is the Tweed BDR for now...

It isnt really a tweed amp per se.Tweed refers to the tone circuit and not the covering.Check out the 59 Bassman or the 57 Deluxe if you want to know what a tweed amp is .They break up sooner than their blackface bretheren.

Ahhh...thanks for that budglo...

I still love it though, I suppose I have been so used to playing the same coloured blackface amps for so long I just got a bit excited.

So thats why it has a fair bit of head room then...I find even on the distortion channel the break up is fairly low gain but great for what I want to do for classic rock, blues and country..

Thanks again and I will say it in another way...lol..

I love my new tweed covered amp...

What a great looking amp, and %40 off. That's fantastic. The best I have seen in my neck of the woods is %20 and that does not happen too often. Enjoy!

From the pics, it looks like the tweed is lacquered? I've got a '95 and it is not. Are all the reissues lacquered?

No, they are not lacquered. Nice score, kk. I have one and love it. Don't let this over the hill gang discourage you. They are against any amp that costs less than 1,000USD. According to Fender, these are vintage styled tube amps, based on 1950s Deluxe and Bassman amps. Customized with channel switching and reverb. They are made with the warm tone, unique circuitry, features and look of the original Tweed versions. That's good enough for me. Congrats on your Tweed amp.

I have one and love it. The clean channel is beautiful. I don't use the drive channel, though. I prefer the sound of my Monte Allums H2O Plus modified Boss Blues Driver into the clean channel. The Blues Drive provides a much wider range of tone and works at loud or quiet levels.

I earned eighty bucks playing on Friday night and I put $125 in my pocket this afternoon.

How much you make this weekend with your guitar?

Better a has-been than a never-was, pal.

Hi Retroverbial :)

Mate like yourself I am never short of a gig or a dollar as a result of frequent gigging.

Here is something from Fender on the listing for this amp...just for info..isn't it great that I can invest my gig money into lovely little ladys like this amp...

Fender unveiled its “Tweed” series amps to great success and acclaim in 1993. The concept: What if a great old collectable 1950s Deluxe or Bassman® was customized with channel switching and reverb?

Behold the Reissue Blues Deluxe—a vintage-style tube amp with “boutique” tone at a great price that many a pro rock, country and blues player has used to superb effect. While its newer cousin, the Hot Rod Deluxe, has many modern refinements, more and more enthusiasts continue to request the warm tone, unique circuitry, classic features and sharp look of the original version.

Accordingly, the Reissue Blues Deluxe sends 40 watts of juice into a single 12” Special Design Eminence® speaker, fueled by two 6L6 output tubes and three 12AX7 preamp tubes. Its two channels, “normal” (with bright switch) and “drive,” are voiced for classic blues, country and rock; other features include Fender spring reverb, an effects loop and two-button channel footswitch. The great look includes tweed covering, “chicken head” pointer knobs and a chrome control panel.

+1 Great stuff. As an official geezer, I never spent a grand on an amp unless you count inflation. Even my Egnater with two cabs was under a grand. The good thing about being over the hill was owning some great amps along the way.

When Fender modified the Tweed circuit, it is no longer a Tweed circuit but a Tweed covered amp. The 57 Deluxe is only around 12 watts and used 6v6 power tubes.

The most important thing is you love the amp. Not everyone's opinion. But the fact is it's not Tweed amp in Tweedland circuitry.

Made my living gigging and recording way back and still gig from time to time when the mood strikes. Struck twice last week. LOL Fun stuff.

i just sold a blues deluxe in mint condition and it went for 425.I needed the money and my drri put it out of a job anyway. Was laid off for 3 months ,but once I get back on my feet am really considering the Tweaker.Would really fill the bill. The Blues Deluxes really dont hold their value.

I have a BDRI. I choose it over the DRRI contrary to the popular view on this site. I like the warmer slightly distorted tone.

Enjoy.

We all have different ears :) I had an early 90's BD and used it for gigging for a few years, it held up but it was kinda loud. I recently sold it cause I got the DRRI, it's a much better sounding amp IMO.

Congrats on the new amp Karma!
