It's not a date code, there is no W for any month and a W year would be 2012. 2 V's would also be wrong. :? It just looks like someone initialed it to sign-off on the amp. Fender has been very inconsistent with dating over the years, amps and instruments. I have a couple of amps that didn't have that sticker at all, but had 2 hand-written initials on the cabinets that look like a date code. If my letters are date codes, they indicate that the amps were 2 to 3 years old when I bought them new.

Maybe the only sure way to date it is to send Fender an email with your serial number. But, they may not even know.

EIA manufacturing codes may be more reliable than Fender's nebulous serial-numbering system.

I think that Fender must use up all of the dating codes on the Strats before they make the amps. On a Strat you have the serial number on the neck, a date stamped on the heel of the neck, date codes on the pots, a hand written date on the underside of the pick guard....phew! No codes left for the amps I guess. :?

I dunno...Its pretty shiny and new lookin. I bought it from music go round in Wilkes barre , PA used for $1000. The guy said it was a back up amplifier for a professional musician and pretty much never used. I was just curious.

I have the same sticker with the same "W" on a Deluxe Reverb RI. From what I can tell, dating the vintage amps is difficult, and dating the modern amps impossible. Fender must want it this way, but I can't think of any reason why.

Edit:
After doing some exhaustive and comprehensive internet research ericmu17, I have discovered that amps with stickers like ours were manufactured some time in the last 62 years.

OOOOOOOOOO... that means mine might have been made in 1964! Now my amp is vintage. It's minty, so think I can get a big price if I sold it?
