An EMP of sufficient magnitude would pretty much fry everything in the vicinity, with the duration of the effects dependent upon the degree of atmospheric ionization. The military has known this for decades. Thus, if the "balloon" ever went up my activities as a soldier would've been limited to cleaning my rifle, winding my watch, and making fire to heat coffee via a Zippo lighter. We damn sure wouldn't be in any position to fight.

Vacuum tubes are somewhat less susceptable to EMP and communications equipment thus based *might* still be operable, but only in the HF and ELF bands using analog-encoded modulation or CW signals only.

hooked up a R/S "micro fan" to the pj. 40mm 12vdc, 7.7 cfm. i'll see if it was a worthy effort over the course of the years to come...

i managed to wire tie it in place in the tube viewing window slot thing in the back panel. the small size allows it to just fit in that slot, pretty cool. i sat it in front of the '84's, front facing out. soldered the leads to a wall wort, and i got one of them fancy adjusta-volt kind. pretty cool adjusting the fan speed with that, might be good to use it to lower the speed when the amp is idling in between sets.

seems to really move some air for its small size. i had the stunning realization that the pj is only about 1 cubic foot roughly. so im banking that the 7.7 cfm will be ample enough to overrule the tube heat and keep that box circulating with air. not sure how much affect it will have on the trannies, who are hiding in the nook behind the chassis toward the top of the amp, but i figure, keeping the tube heat from dwelling up into the chassis will be a plus as is.

theres room for two in that slot, if i ever decide on it. got some amperage to spare. not in a rush to do it yet, im not a modder at heart. and i have to be in the mood to solder, dont always feel like doing it.

im sure im gonna get gobs of tone mojo bleeding out of the speaker because of this, right?

 It's funny, but it sounds like you already have more confidence in the amp now. That confidence will definitely show while your playing. Doing things for yourself can be very gratifying. Let us know if it holds up during the show. :)

Por favor, disculpe mi español, no se llega a la práctica con mucha frecuencia.
