I'm planning to build a computer from scratch to use mainly for my recording software. I am hoping to use a fender amp shell as the case...so it is durable enough to get toted around with my other gear...and will look cool along side my snakeskin covered Super 60.

1. What models should I be looking for that are big enough to house a standard motherboard?

2. What is a good source for finding "gutted" amps? I've put a post on craigslist...but I live in BFE, so no hits so far.

3. What is a reasonable price to pay?

4. Has anyone done this before? What headaches am I facing?

Rock on.....

You might be able to get a motherboard inside a Champ cabinet, but it'd be a tight fit. Any amp larger than a Champ should house one easily. Check ebay for cabinets. There are some people who sell them new.
