G'day to everybody :D

Ok peoples well as I have posted in the vintage amps section I was looking at purchasing a Vintage Silverface Fender Twin Reverb Amp.

Due to it's age and potential to costs me a lot of money in repairs I have cancelled my purchase of it.

The feedback and opinions of experienced members of this forum helped me to make that decision...thank you

Ok so again, I am seeking your opinion and expert advice as to which amp out of these two you would prefer to purchase and why?

I know that I will be buying one of them...I will post pic's once I purchase.

I am a live performing muso playing in 3 bands so it will get use...

You will assist me with my decision making along with other factors I have taken onboard as well.

Cheers..

Either amp would make for an outstanding gig rig but "The Twin" (aka "The Evil Twin") adds some twists to the basic 4 x 6L6 Twin Reverb platform that enhance the inherent excellence of the basic architecture.

The Twin adds the ¼-power option, dual assignable-and-switchable effects loops, and an elaborate tone stack with push-pull boosts. Sonically, it will approximate the legendary blackface cleans very credibly while the drive channel is less "fizzy" than the HR, VM, or Supersonic series of amps.

Frankly, you cannot go wrong with either of your choices......for the record, I own the '65 TRRI as well as a '78 silverface original. You will need some stompboxes when using this amp since even dimed it remains relatively clean and compression-free (and unless you're gigging somewhere in the deserts of the NWT, the volume will drive an audience to the venue's exit doors with all possible alacrity).

Best of luck, HTH

Arjay

I actually played on a vintage 60s Twin Reverb in 1982 while buying a guitar from the guy who owned it, he refused to sell the amp though. It was the cleanest and loudest amp that I've ever played. My philosophy about tube amps is that they should be absolutely clean, even at full volume, and use pedals for any drive or distortion. The Twin Reverb fits that philosophy perfectly. I don't care for any of the drive or similar effects built into most amps. I would love to have one of the vintage 60s Twin Reverb models, but I don't think that I could ever use it cranked up. I checked the desert, there are no outlets. :(

LOLOL

My '09 Tacoma Pre-Runner pickup has a built-in 120 VAC 60 Hz converter good for 400 watts. I've often thought about dragging a Twin Reverb or my Dual Showman out into the middle of the Sonoran Desert and "rocking out".

I'm not sure if you're talking about new or low hour amps. Also, are we talking about the '65 Reissue Twin Reverb and the newer Pro series Twin ? Art

Wow, great idea! The uneasy rider went to LA via Omaha, so could you swing through Indiana and pick me up on your way?

No sweat.

It's only about a two thousand mile detour for me.

Pack a lunch, we'll make a day out of it.

Whoops my apologies, I should of been more accurate with my description... :P

Yes my friend they are both the newer series of amps...

Fender 65 Twin Reverb reissue and the current Fender Twin Amp pro tube.

At the moment I am going with the Twin Amp....looking at the specs it seems to be the amp that will suite my needs allround.

In Australia the Twin Amp retails for $3800... I have the opportunity to purchase this amp at $2300 AUD or the Fender 65 Twin Reverb reissue at $2050 AUD.

These two prices are the best I have found in town for each of these amps. I had to store hop to find a really competative price.

What do you think?

Well Fenderite's....It's official!!

I will recieve my new Fender Twin Amp in 6 weeks time.

This will be my first ever Pro Tube Amp, believe me as heavy as this sucker will be...it will not sit in my bedroom...even on the 1/4..

Full purpose of this purchase is it's specs + Tone + Tone + Tone and that it is a non reissue amp.

As I said before it will be used in the three bands that I am in. hmmm I can feel my back already.. :P

Ohhh and I even talk the price down to $2200 AUD... :D

I will post pics of her introduction into my world...

Now what do I name her ?
