Hello all, first time poster. Been out of electrics for awhile, but just missed my Tele too much so I bought me another one.

I also bought a Vox AD-50VT, but have been reading some very good things about the new SCXD and was curious if anyone has compared these two.

Thanks

Jack, good question. I had the same question, and here is what I have determined to date. I have the AD30VT which is very similar to the 50, and like it quite a bit. I checked out the SCXD and from what I can hear and what I have heard from others, is the fender cleans on the SCXD are better, but the VOX AC15 and AC30 and OD/crunch tones are better on the Vox. I think the gain controls, tone, and effects w/parameters are overall better in the VOX. But in the fender cleans in the SCXD you get a better tubey tone - and that is very much worth having. I have not been impressed with the Vox blackface or tweed tones. So, I am thinking I need both! And that way you could link them and do some cool things... the line out on the Fender does not disengage the speaker, like it does in the VOX. So, one option, you could plug into the Fender, and line out into the VOX and get some nice stereo tones.

I have had a chance to do an a/b (VOXad30vt) on both amps, mind you it was only for a couple of hours in the store. I do agree that the parameters in the VOX are a lot better, but the tone of the Fender blows the VOX out of the water. The VOX sounded way too digital, whereas the Fender sounds/feels real. If you are a serious Metal player, then the Fender can't really do it. But, you can get some great hard rock tones out of the SCXD. I just sold my Marshall DSL401 because I do like to play hard rock, without pedals. After waiting to test the SCXD and comparing the two amps over a couple of days, I placed my order for the Fender. In fact, the 9voice setting sounded similar to my DSL.
