For the first time in my life I am very disappointed in FMIC. Last December my wife had purchased a Frontman 212r for my Christmas gift it's a great sounding solid state amp and I absolutely love it to death but the issue here is that in the 7 months i've owned it i've had to get it replaced 5 different times, each time for the same exact problem, faulty electronics within the amp. i'm not trying to rip on fender here but this is utter bullshit and the thing that tops it off for me right now is that this time around fender is having me drive into Sacramento and go to rainbow electronics to get it replaced (45 minute drive) don't get me wrong I love fender and I always will but they really need to do something about their quality control issues overseas.

I feel a great disturbance in "the force".

"Faulty electronics" is a pretty vauge and generic statement. If I were Fender and each of the 5 amps failed with "the same exact problem" I would suspect a problem with how you are using the amp or a problem with the electrical system in your home. Sorry if that sounds critical of you, but you have to admit, your experience is highly unusual.

Yeah, gotta agree with Bill. Do you have a lot of power glitches where you live? Does the voltage sag below 105 Volts, or is it higher than 125 Volts? You may want to use a surge protector strip or power conditioner to plug your amp into. The solid state amps are more susceptible to power problems than tube amps are.

It could be Fender's fault, they have made mistakes before, but five different amps in a row is very very unusual and I would suspect some other problem besides the amps themselves. Static can be another source of problems for solid state amps if it is strong enough.

When I read the topic statement, and the first reply I was kinda taking sides. After reading the rest of the replies and thinking about it, I have to agree with everyone.

It is highly unusual, but not entirely impossible. I had a similar experience a few years back with Digitech. Went through about 7 of them before I finally decided to use the store credit towards something else. Those were right off the shelf 5 minutes of use failures though (the last 4 I tried in the store first and saved me 4 trips back).

I always use a Furman power conditioner and power strip for everything. Down here in redneck MD, a slight wind makes the power flicker. Good luck in the future.

I was one of the first to buy a Vibro Champ XD. It was just what I needed for playing guitar in a condo building full of people who like their peace and quiet. After a couple of years the power tube started malfunctioning. I replaced it but it didn't help. Long story short - Fender sent me a brand new amp. I was very, very pleased with the way Fender backed the product. :D

Still, I hope I don't end up with an experience like yours. Good luck.

Generally speaking the Frontman amps have a pretty good reputation for reliability. Five amps with the same problem? There has to be a problem with your home voltage. Rather than be upset with Fender you should be happy they are still willing to make the issue right. At some point they would be better off giving you your money back. It may be some distance for you to take the amp for repair, but you need a good amp tech to figure out your problem. It sounds to me like they are trying to help you. Be glad Fender has a good warranty and didn't tell you to take a hike.
