I have a mint mesa boogie maverick.. 2-12 combo with vintage 30's in it..I never use it and I have someone who wants to trade me a red knob twin for it...I am thinking ok, plus another $100 and your amp for mine...but I know nothing about the red knob twins,,,his was just retubed and tech says its super clean and operates fine...is this a deal or should i trade for something diff?

IMO the Maverick is way more amp than the Twin. From my experience of working on Boogies, they were all built like a tank. Art

yeah I know..I love how it (mesa)looks but just dont love the sound..I got a super champ I love the sound but its too small..was thinking drive the twin with the champ(champ has a line out)if the twin has an fx loop run the line out into that.. I tried the champ into the mesa and didnt like the sound..i tried to sell mesa for $800 no takers..so?

Yeah, Boogies are Boogies ! I guess if the Twin has a clean bill of health(filter caps age?) and you can give it a good test drive with the Champ & your guitar....then yeah. But I would do the test drive-go-to-lunch scenario, before making the move. The Twin is kind of a complicated amp, just to use as a power amp. You know what I mean ? Art

I hear yah...I was hoping for a SF twin..simpler and if later need be, easier to sell..I dont know...mesa aint costing me anything sittin here so i suppose i could just park it too..

Couldn't figure out the"you tube" thing, but I'm computer challanged. Any way, I used to run a '89 Champ 12 through a Music Man 65(4X10) in a rock-blues band, for a couple of years. Ran the Champ's line out right into the front end(low gain)input. Worked out just fine and sounded great. So,I'm thinkin' that there are plenty of reasonably reliable and reasonably priced amps out there. Good Hunting ! Art
