Just wondering if anyone, ever, has seen a post describing the EXACT amp settings he uses in concert? Or what tube or speaker brand? As far as I can tell from the most recent youtube videos, he playing through a single, possible new, but tweaked, Re-Issue '57 Twin Reverb, close miked, and that's it. As if he needs anything more, right? Thanks.

No such thing s a "57 Twin Reverb". It a "57 Twin-Amp" and doesn't have reverb.

Do a search for "Eric Clapton amp settings". There are several sites that describe the amp settings of famous guitarists. I found one with settings for Clapton, but it didn't say what amp or era it was for.

Your answer is no, you do not know the settings, tubes or speakers of 'whatever' model Fender amp Clapton has been using the last few years live in concert.

And your original question is a non sequitur.

You'll find more help here if you shuck the attitude.

Pointing out that the OP doesn't know the difference between a "Twin-Amp" and a "Twin Reverb" isn't exactly "nit-picking" either.

Since the OP is too lazy to do it himself:

i don't think the artists even know what their settings are . they have guitar and amp techs to do the set up. every venue has a different accustic property. thats why they do sound checks. lets say if "eric" doesn't like the bass from the amp that night they would adjust it. tomorrow it may be the treble. it"s that simple yet that complicated.

It won't matter anyway. Clapton sounds like he does because he's Clapton, not because of his amp or settings alone. He uses a lot of different amps and guitars. I wouldn't go out and spend big bucks trying to chase his sound. If it's just curiosity, Google is your friend.

And yes kiddies, shuck the attitudes. Most of us share information here in a mostly kind and respectful manner. If you can't, you might want to move on. Personal attacks aren't tolerated here. :?

Ok, my 2 cents..:) For years I tried to sound like a few of my guitar influences by buying the same gear settings etc etc. Finally I realized, just be me and get my own style. Once I did, I found that it was much easier to get close to the sound of some of my influences. As some of my esteemed brothers on this forum have stated, no need to be defensive or make personal attacks. Some of them are incredibly humble like Superpro and have more years playing than some guys have been alive. So, lets all be friends and have great exchanges of ideas and experiences.

Hey ABS, that's a pretty smooth LPB Strat you got yesterday -- for a gomer, you done pretty well in the "wife" department.

If you ever find yourself with TDY or PCS orders to Ft. Huachuca, gimme a holler......we'll wine and dine you for sure.

Hey Dennis, it ain't no problem askin' about amp settings ! But it's a moving target at best. These crusty guys mean well ! We've all strolled down that tone highway in search of some particular sound. Me, I gravitate towards Mark Knopfler, Robert Cray, BB King, Steve Cropper and T Bone Walker type of sounds. IMHO It's the sojourn, more than the equipment. The equipment sure can help get you in the ballpark, but after that, it's pretty wide open. Keep Pickin' !!! Art

Copy Lima Charlie. If I ever get down to Columbus again we can meet up at Ranger Joe's.
