Hi there,

For the 2nd time in a week, my volume noticeable dropped. The volume drop seems to have affected both channels. Any advice? (I've read it may be tubes or perhaps even scorched resistors.) Thanks for any info you might have!

If your volume drop and return to "normal" it could be a bad solder or it could be a bad contact in tubes socket.

Remove all your tubes, one by one and put in their sockets.
Do that couple time ,it clean the socket contact.

Merci! Je parle un peu Francais! My French is horrible and I haven't spoken French in 20 years. I'll try removing the tubes. Your English was fine. Thanks for your help!

J'ai regardé à l'intérieur de l'ampli et il semblait OK .

I looked at the inside of the amp and it looked OK. I wiggled the tubes and it played fine once I finished.

Thanks again.

Good.
To make a better job, clean the socket contacts with contact cleaner.

You remove tubes and spray contact cleaner on tube pins and you wiggle your tube intheir socket. It clean better

Paste?? If you don't know what you're doing, let a good tech touch up the solder joints. First, there is potentially fatal voltage in there. Second, excessive heat will lift the traces off the board and cause more problems than you'll ever want to deal with.

What are you talking about Tissan ?

We don't use cleaning paste in electronics soldering. It's not plumbering.
Never use plumbering soldering paste and solder it's corosive

That's right.

You MUST use electronic solder ONLY

Sorry,

I would said "soudure" electronic solder as paste !

All you are right, remove valves is quite easy but open the chassis generates risks. It can be dangerous to make soldering without taking care of supply cap! If you have no experiences in electronics and soldering method, it is better to let a technician to do that.
