Does the 65 Super Reverb Reissue have a stamped circuit like the Hot Rod Deville or the Hot Rod Deluxe, or is it truly based of the circuit that the old 65 Blackface had (which would make it really easy to mod.)?????

It's an acid-etched wave-soldered printed-circuit board similar to that used in all of Fender's current line-up of regular production amps, but of a better grade than the HRD/BD series. Only the amps from Fender's Custom Shop retain the old-school point-to-point wiring such as was used in all the vintage blackface and silverface models.

i am a jazz player/jam band player and i am wondering if i can get away with purchasing a reissue super reverb over the much more expensive Vintage Super Reverb. I know that moding some of the cheaper fender tube amps can be difficult due to the stamped circuit and that moding the older amps are a little easier because of the point to point circuitry. Will I need to mod the amp and if so am i better off just spending the money on an actual vintage super reverb?

Why buy one if you know you're going to mod it? There might be some alternatives out there. I would check out some tube amp kits and mod as you build it. There are some good turret style kits out there.

I think you've been reading too many forum posts.

There isn't a goddamm thing wrong with a vintage Super Reverb built before 1970. And the re-issues sound pretty righteous as well. Mod your attitude instead and pocket the $$$ you'd spend chasing someone else's idea of sonic nirvana.

Why but an amp with the intention of modding it anyway? You only void a warranty on a new amp. Why not try a bunch of amps out and find what works for you out of the box? If I can't get what I want with tube change, it's history.

There's always someone on all the forums telling you your amp sounds like garbage if you don't do one mod or another. It's total nonsense. IMO there is nothing wrong with the Super Reverb's tone, it's stands the test of time. When the amps get larger and more complex, they are difficult to mod regardless if it's PTP, turret board or PCB. If you want something to mod, I'd go with a Champ or 5e3 Deluxe, though neither one would work that well for Jazz. Most Jazzers I know who cross style paths use solid state amps with modeling effects.
