The post that was here is now available at:

http://shimmilou.mysite.com/ Or, click the "www" button at the bottom of my post on this forum.

On the site, click the "Tech Stuff" link at the top of the page. I have posted an edited version there. At the end of the "Considerations" post, I have also posted one about capacitors.

You can still take the poll here, and leave comments here. Comments aren't available on my site. :)

Very interesting observaton, Shimmilou. I agree that amps are about the successful interaction of all the parts. Art

Thanks ABS,

I might write more like this and I really appreciate all feedback, positive and negative. That is why I included the poll, I wouldn't want to continue if the readers think it isn't helpful. :)

Thanks for posting what obviously took you some time to write.
One thing I would find interesting is more on capacitors and their place and function in the amp...which are which and how they affect tone.

Excellent suggestion! I will start that right away. Thank you!

For real lengthy article type of things, why not post it all together on a web site and supply a link? Juston Holten did just that for the HRDlx and DeVille. That way the information won't be scattered all over the place and it won't use a ton of bandwidth here. His site was like a bible for anyone who owned a HRD amp.

Another excellent idea! That had not occurred to me, but having it all in one place would be make it much more handy. I will check into that. Maybe I could post documents on PhotoBucket as JPG's. Thank you very much!

No, don't do that. In order to make them legible, you would have to make the file very large which will take time to open for people who do not have a fast internet connection. You should post them as a PDF or even Word document so people can download and print them for reference if they are working on an amp.

Yep Yep ! I agree with Supro ! IMO A basic technical overview of amp operations is not well suited for this type of forum, if it is very lenghty. But a reference site would be cool, and you could update it or expand it as you see fit. Good Luck ! As for the "art" of amp building, I'd have to say Ken Fischer was the epitome, but there are others in that Art Institute past and present. Sure do like being a student with a sketch book ! Art

Thanks for the input Bill,

I think that is what 63supro was suggesting. I have a website that I use for Strat pictures and reviews that I can maybe redo. I should have thought about the slow internet connection problem as I have one myself and JPG's sometimes take a while to open.

I have moved the original post to my site and added a capacitor post also.

http://shimmilou.mysite.com/ Or click the "www" button at the bottom of my post on this forum.

On the site click the "Tech Stuff" link at the top of the page. The "Considerations" post is followed by the new "Capacitor" post.

The poll here is still going, 23 hrs left!
