Have you tried another guitar? I'm having this issue with an EJ Strat I just got, my other Strats dont have that problem... The EJ Strat did the same thing on my other amp, so I know it's not the DRRI.

I have the same problem on my PRRI. Bought it used a week ago from GC. After maybe half an hour I start getting static whether I'm playing the guitar or not. I tried three different guitars and different cables. The static is still there. It's in the amp.
I'll probably try a different wall outlet. Other than that, I don't know.
I'm about to return it.

If your amp is under warranty, do not hezitate to bring back to the dealer and demonstrate your concern.

Could be a number of issues. Bad grounding in circuit on receptacle, or grounding/shielding on guitar. Sometimes other devices or lighting in circuit may affect static noise thru amp. Try another receptacle that isn't on same circuit and/or another guitar. good luck.

Thanks. I tested the amp in another electrical outlet, used different guitars, and heard no interference from other appliances. I just took it back to GC a week later. They said static is normal in tube amps, especially if the gain switch is turned up. Well the PRRI only has a volume knob. I told them I've had tube amps before without any static. I'm sure they just put it back out on the floor.
I ended up buying a new Fender Blues Deluxe Reissue. No static, BTW. :)

I have both amps and dont feel the blues deluxe is built nearly as good as a princeton reverb. Its like buying a Lexus and trading it in for a Yugo.Good luck.Static may be the least of your problems.
