I accidentally plugged my 4 button foot switch into the midi in port on the back of my Cyber Twin SE instead of the foot switch port. Now the midi in port no longer works. The amp won't recognize my Foot Controller or midi messages from my computer. Midi out still works fine. Does anyone know if this is a software problem or a hardware problem? Am I headed for the repair shop or is there something I can do?

try a factory reset. if it doesn't recover, see the repair shop. good news: the MIDI IN circuitry is simple and should be easy to fix if that's what you gotta do.

the foot switch is a passive device, do not understand how pluggng it in can cause destruction of the MIDI IN port, unless of couse you sent POWER into the port in which case you will burn things out.

label your cables!!! both ends!!!

good luck

Did you check to see if one of the pins on the midi jack is bent. It can happen pretty easily.

Strange ! Deeper investigation is needed:
Test you footswitch on another amp, test if the "thru" midi is still alive .

At last, go back to the dealer for repairing.
