re: new Super-Sonic 60 changes

FYI - I made tone mods to the Vibrolux channel & Burn channel in response to user feedback.

Yeah, I've heard the mullards are a choice as well. I'm just waiting for a little extra cash to do the tube change and re-bias. Thanx again for the info.

I wonder, would Fender be so kind as to share these "improvement" mods with those of us that own the original Supersonic?

Fender doesn't have any tone mods. The mods are indepentant user! If you are refering to the new SS 60W, it is only superficial cabinet mods and logo change! They didn't change the circuit! 22W is new offering!

The Super-Sonic 60 has been tweaked for increased bass response and fatter tone,

It says that right on Fender's website. Are you saying they are lying?

I am fine with my original SS, I think its a great amp when cranked up. The Burn channel could use more low end though, that is a fact. And Fender apparently acknowledged this and changed it.

....can anybody with first-hand knowledge confirm or deny Fender's claim that the bass response has been increased on the new Supersonic 60 (1x12)?

I also found the burn channel and Vibrolux voicing lacked low-end on my 2008 Supersonic.

Fender supersonic to Supersonic 60 mod.

Simple request the schematic for the fender supersonic 60 like I did and you can if you know what your doing make the changes your self. If you dont know what your doing bring the schematics to someone that does.. The voltages inside this amp can and will kill you dead if you dont know what you are doing. There were only about 5 resistor changes and 5 cap changes all the parts cost about $10 max. Simple to do if you know how to read a schematic.

The changes were Night and day in the way the supersonic sounded after it was done. The balance between the two clean channels is now very good. The reverb sounds a bit better as well.

churchaudio....could you expand a bit more on the sound changes after you did the mods? I'm particularly interested in the burn channel differences....having played with a number of different tubes myself, but never getting past the thin tones.

More bottom end... Not a perfect balance between the clean channels but the low end on the amp has been increased.. More bottom end and less ice pick because there is more low end.

I have to say my new Supersonic 60 watt oxbloode combo is one of the best sounding Fender amps ever. I won't be changing a single cap, resistor or tube. Love it just the way it is - that's why I bought it.

On arrival. the logo plate was missing (see my separate post) off the front grille. It took me a week to realise it was missing! I was enjoying playing the darn thing, eyes on the control panel. My son, who also has a SS 60 combo noticed the missing logo plate. However, Fender Australia are arranging one to be sent out and are organising free installation. Great service through Heath Blows at Fender customer service.

Modify the SuperSonic if you want, but for me and 2 of my guitar playing buddies already sweet talking their wives so they can buy s SS 60 combo, this amp could have come straight off Leo's bench, wired by Lupe and quality checked by Forrest.

I've been using this amp, in the ox-blood, for the past 6 months and I love the tones it offers. i've had no problems until last nights gig.

The burn channel works great but the clean channel gives no sound. well, it does hum or give a slight "on" noise.the same thing happens whether i'm using the footswitch or not. i've pulled the tubes and reinserted to clean the pins. if i try to alter the volume on the vintage channel, it makes no difference to the sound .

( the amp was usable because i read thread about connecting the effects send and return and using that as a type of attunator? with effects on, its a much lower volume. with effects off, it's the lead.)

has anybody had similar issues or have any ideas i can try to fix the problem? thanks

If the amp is 6 months old, it's still under warranty, assuming you bought it new. Take it to your nearest authorized Fender repair center and let them look at it.

Glad to help and good to see another fellow 60 watt Oxbloode Super Sonic owner.

While you are at the repair station, I suggest asking the tech to note down the make/model and colour code of all the tubes. If you really like the sound of your amp, as I do mine, the day will come when you need to replace a tube or all of them. This is an easy 10 minute job for the tech. Having this info, you can make exact replacements and keep the sound you are used to.

Yours is the new version and mine is the original version! You have the mods already!
Note the style lettering for Super-Sonic nametag!
