Hi All! After years and years of playing through solid states, I finally bought myself a Deluxe Reverb yesterday. What an incredible amp. I tried so many different Mesas, Marshalls, and Fenders, but within 30 seconds, I knew this was the amp for me.

Anyhow, since I'm now in love with tone, I'm starting to plan out my effects arsenal. Originally I was going to grab a Boss GT-10 or a Line 6 Pod x3 Live, but they both sound too processed to me (as have all the other MFXs I have tried). I've now decided to go the pedal route. I picked up a Tube Screamer yesterday, so what should be next?

I've heard mixed things lately about Boss, which is suprising for me. Do you like Boss? What other pedals would you recommend?

Also, I don't have an effects loop on my amp. Will this affect certain pedals, such as delay?

Thanks in advance. :)

My all time favorite is the route 66 Comp/Overdrive.

The comp side is on all of the time. (try it)

The overdrive side is a well done T/S clone

As for boss pedals i would go for the older ones. the newer digital ones don't sound so great

If you like older Boss pedals, build one. Fun stuff.

Great sounding pedals. I've done a few. They're not hard. Some have more components than others but that's about it.

Hermida Audio makes great pedals as well as Robert Keeley. I run a Keeley Compressor and Hermida Audio Zendrive (original) for hair with various other Boss pedals (the Keeley modded ones from pre Y2K). YOu can never go wrong with boutique effects!

I feel that boss are good but everyone uses them so it turns me off them.

I seriously suggest you look into old DOD pedals. They are really good and they are damn cheap nowadays.

Moollon are really good too, sound immense.

As for the no FX loop, its not too bad since your not using a gain channel in your amp. Just make sure you put reverb an delays after any distortion or overdrive pedals

From what I've read on different forums, people seem to love the Line 6 M9 for a multi-effects unit. I haven't used one personally, but the online clips sound good.

Boss makes solid entry-level guitar pedals, but there are a TON of other pedal makers out there ranging from super cheap to ultra boutique. What kind of effects are you looking for? Delay? Chorus? Vibe? Compressor? If you give more information about your wants (and your budget), then we can give you more specific suggestions.

I did, it's just okay. It gets pretty harsh sounding with a distortion pedal.

Thanks for the responses, everyone! For right now, budget is not an issue, as I'd rather have a few quality pedals vs. a large quantity of OK pedals. At the same time, I don't need super boutiqe pedals at this time, although I am open to some good ones if available.

I'm looking for some warm, natural pedals with true bypass. Next in my arsenal I'm looking for a harder distortion (I've been hearing good things about The Rat) and a nice chorus.

Also, speaking of true bypass, I have a Tube Screamer (TS9). Should I exchange it for a Tube Screamer that has true bypass? The only reason I ask is that the TS9 seems to be THE Tube Screamer all the pros use. Is it really an issue for this model?

By the way, I am loving the amp.

Go here,
http://www.buildyourownclone.com/ They actually have a really nice reverb pedal too as well as vintage clone pedal kits.

I plan to get a Zendrive 2 very soon, heard great things about it... another nice pedal to consider is the BB Preamp, nice warm overdrive!

Glad you're enjoying the DRRI, I love the way mine sounds! I find myself not having to use any tube screamer at all, just plug n play! :)
