Yeah, hope you 've got some wiggle room with that chassis. Glad to hear that those amps have well built cabinets. Did they keep the floating baffle board design ? BTW Blues, how did you like the Victoria ? Art

There is a little adjustment room with the two screws that hold the Chassis in the cab.
Can't believe Fender let it get out the door like that !

anyway, take off the back cover (I'm assuming you understand the danger here) and loosen the two screws/nuts and washers you should now be able to slide the chassis back and away from the speaker magnet guard.

I just swapped out the Jensens on mine, I had to pop off the bell covers on the Webers on the top two speakers.

Glad you found the problem and it is a fairly easy fix.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding you,but it seems the chassis would have to go up higher not back to avoid hitting the speaker magnet guard & I don't see how that'll be possible.

The victoria was amazing !!!
But pretty much a one trick amp.
Absolutely no clean headroom past 2 on the volume.

I see what your saying the chassis is touching the square speaker magnet cover.

Very odd, mine has about a 1/4 gap there.

Might be one that has to go back for warranty if that is the problem, don't know how you can fix that ????

Well it's used so the only warranty is GC's 30 day return.I really do like the amp though so I may give it awhile & see if the business card trick continues to work, haha.

Don't give up on the bassman RI's they are a bargain deal for those of us interested in real tube tone !

I still don't know how its physically possible for the dumb thing to touch, it would have had to have some major crash (which would be visible) or its been that way since it left Fender.

I think it must have came like this because otherwise the amp looks pretty much new aside from a small scrape on the side,no signs of any kind of major crash etc...I did a google search & apparently there are a few others with this same issue. When I talked to the sales guy on the phone before buying he said it was in good shape & that the previous owner took real good care of his stuff & kept it all in his recording studio, never gigged with it or anything. He said the guy just wanted something different.Thats BS,if the guy had a studio there's no way he would have recorded with it as is...thats why he returned it! But being both stubborn & frugal I tried to find a solution to the problem .Lets just hope the bussiness card continues to work.

Do yourself a huge favor and order a pair of weber sig 10's
The bell easily pops off and there is a lot more room !!!

And they sound about 75% better than the jensens.

They are about $40.00 each with free shipping at music 123 and then sell the Jensens on e-bay for about 35 each.

Win Win !!!!

The sig 10,not 10s right,I assume you mean the alnico ones as well.Is the magnet area actually much smaller though with the bell removed & can I only replace 2 of the 4 spkrs since these are 15w (aren't the p10r's 25w).I assume so long as the ohms are the same it doesn't matter.

I replaced all four in mine.
The webers use a round plug magnet in the alnico 10's giving you much more room.

The webers are rated at 15 watts and so you have a total of 60 watts, more than enough to keep it up and going for a long time.

Weber wattage ratings are very concervative.

Wow,half a year later I finally found the source of that noise. The business card trick worked but the speaker touching the chasis wasn't the issue.I recently swapped out that speaker for a G10 Greenback which has a lot more room to clear the chasis & isn't touching,& the noise came back!Turns out it was the component (?) attached to the chasis (on front side but behind the preamp tubes) vibrating against it.Once again I found a quick 'n easy fix (piece of electrical tape at the seam) but is there a better/more permant solution?I'll have the chasis out of the cab again shortly when I replace the two remaining stock speakers.
