Yes, I know what you mean about something missing, I feel that way about a lot of effects pedals. I usually just use headphones when I play through the POD anyway, it is stereo then and it sounds better. Where the POD really shines is for recording, check out the YouTube video I made using the POD.

I'm just an amateur player, but the sound quality is pretty good on the recording.

pod's remind me of what zoom started doing yrs ago.
i had a zoom. they were cool. you could walk with it walkman style with head phones or run it through your amp as a effects processor. i wish i still had it. it was pretty fun to play through.

Digitech Screamin Blues Stomp Box, Tex Mex Pickups, JJ Tubes and Blues Junior with Jensen C12N speaker.

There is a combo that will get close to your SRV tone...minus his hands.

WCJ, I think it's time you need to bite the bullet and spend some money to trial and error what is going to work for you.

just because i ask for opinions it doesnt mean that im following them.
i do however consider the opinions of those in the know.
im not one to buy stuff then take it back because i didnt like it.
i buy it, if i dont like it it sets in the storage room until i have somebody ask to buy it. the storage room is full.

Yes so true, but at the end of the day your ears will hear what you like and dislike.

I and all source this forum for everything music.

this forum will provided a lot of options that will be for and against, but the good ol go to a music shop to test drive a product works treats.

A fact of life is that you will buy and sell.

Take it easy Tiger

basicly just looking to hear pros and cons bro.
if i hear things i dont care for i wont waste my time to demo the product.
if folks say the same things over and over about it why bother?
thing is you have all levels of experience on here.
in asking about a product i expect to get several different opinions right off. then there will be a couple things i will pick up on right away.
then when more folks chime in you will see a couple things folks will discuss about said topic. then you will be able to watch the discussion and pick up on a few more things that might not have been brought forward from the begining.
in all this it will help out big when you actually set down with the product in question. you will already have an idea of what to look for and for the pro's/con's. it helps make short work of doing demos all day.
then when you get your list narrowed down to maybe a dozen, the demo time is of better quality. basicly its about doing research before you buy,
but in my case, its about research before demo day.
so to go spend money to trial and error products is a total waste of time
and money management for me.

thank you for your report on these.
what did that kit cost you?
did you bias your amp accordingly?
thats what im looking for i think, a more bluesy
tone with room for a pedal up front.

anybody else have experience with tube changes in the blues jr?

The kit was 50 some dollars for all the tubes.

The Blues Junior does not have a wait to adjust bias without modification. You get what you get, and with the BJ that means a hot bias setting. I have not modified mine in any way, other than the tube change, because any modification beyond that will nullify the warranty.

If the amp is under 5 years old the warranty is transferable. All you need is a signed receipt fro the original owner.

Way Cool, I'd check with Fender first on the warranty question. But it seems reasonable to me that if you switch to JJ tubes and have a Fender authorized tech, check the bias and change the bias resistor if need be, all should be good. It's kind of like taking your Honda into a Honda dealer to have the spark plugs changed and tuned up. Equivalent parts, such as these, are usually fine with the warranty. Just sayin' Art

I've never heard of Fender voiding a warranty over changing tube brands. Just have the amp biased by a Fender tech. Speaker either as long as the work is done properly.

shimmilou has a post about tube changes. I don't agree with some of it some of it I do, and it seems like he got his little digs in on me, like about the magic ears etc. but I don't care. He has a problem with the way I bias my amps, but like I said I made a living playing music.

Yes electronics is math, but ask all the guitarists who have incredible tone if they follow everything to the letter. The people with memorable and recognizable tone push the rules a little. If you want to sound like everyone else, his advise is rock solid, it doesn't mean mine or anyone else's is wrong.

It's all subjective and if you can't hear the difference, that's fine too. Bit what I consider a quality tone obviously differs from shimmilou's and that's fine too.
