I own a Hot Rod de Ville 212, and I'm trying to find a way to integrate a Taylor T5 into my present system. I'm thinking about running the output of a tuner to one of the inputs of the amp, and the other input I would feed from the output of a pedal board. The tuner is not rigged into the pedal board since it is part of my acoustic rig, so there will be no feedback, but I wanted to know if it creates any impedance problems on the amp to be using both of those inputs, one from the pedal board, another from the tuner output. I would never use them at the same time, but they would be plugged in always.

Also, the amp is so loud that I'm using it at the minimum volume, and the tone is suffering. Is there anything I can do to halve the output so I can turn it up more and get a better sound from the amp?

Does anyone know how to adjust the bias on this amp?

Hi - I'm not sure about causing any impedance problems you might cause, but here is a link to the procedure for checking the bias on your amp:

http://studentweb.eku.edu/justin_holton/bias.html

I have a HRDeville 4x10 - I checked the bias, it was 68 mv - NO adjustment needed. Unless you have changed the power amp tubes, yours is probably okay.

I did change the preamp tubes. I put a 12axy-EH in v1 & Tung Sol 12AX7's in v2 & v3. Those changes really improved the overall tone of the amp.

You can also reduce the volume of your amp by using a power "attenuator."

Check out the guides on eBay:

The guy that wrote these guides also sells attenuators he builds. For your amp, the 160w version would probably work. I was considering getting the 160w, single output. However, I like the way my amp sounds since I changes the preamp tubes.

Hope this helps!!

Brice
