Hi

I've heard people discussing the relative merits of two types of Blues Junior amplifier. One is clad in black and has a Fender speaker; one is clad in tweed and has some other speaker.

I've seen a couple of instances where people have stated that they felt the tweed sounded better. However the current product line-up only seems offer the black model. Is it the case that two models were offered formaly, but only one is sold now; or are people refering to a different model of amp (i.e. the Deville)??

My understanding is that the tweed BJ with the different speaker (Celestion??)
was a limited edition available only at certain stores for a short time.
Check out the thread a couple below this one entitled
"What makes my "limited edition" limited?"

Having owned both the tweed and tolex, I can tell you for my tastes the tweed was worth the extra bucks. I like the look and the Jensen speaker is better suited for bluesy, classic rock.

Aside from the tweed and the speaker, they're the same amp though.

The "tweed" version is available in a couple configurations. The Tweed NOS is available only at MF or GC and comes with the Jensen ceramic speaker. There is also another tweed version - rather limited availability - that has the Jensen alnico speaker. A third version is a tweed covering, but with the standard Fender Eminence speaker. I find the Tweed NOS to be more to my liking. I play mine every day.
There are several comparisons on Youtube where you can get an idea of the tonal differences. Good luck
